All: I have emailed the BeechTalk administrator to take the appropriate measures to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Tim
I have now changed my sign in password so hopefully this scammer cannot access my account here any longer. My apologies to anyone who may have been taken by this scammer. The last time I logged in before a few minutes ago was June of 2020 according to my profile. Tim

Was the communication with the scammer all via his email or did you guys use beechtalk messenger? Just wondering how we can better vet the seller. The clear thing I see them doing is list a gmail or similar email as the preferred contact method once the transaction starts. And I guess Venmo is a little more dangerous if you are sending to "friends and family" as it doesn't offer buyer protection.

I have always asked sellers to send me a picture of the items from a specific viewpoint or with a random item next to it. For example “can you use a pencil to point out the vhf input and send me a picture”. I do this on any site I buy on like eBay Facebook etc. I have been burned in the past but this practice has kept me safer IMO.

When buying a watch I usually want a pic of a specific time and date as well as crown in or out.
