I'm excited to share that Gallagher Aviation is GripLockTies' newest authorized reseller. I just received thousands of these things so I need my fellow BTers to buy thousands of these things!

GripLockTies are rubber-lined, releasable ties that offer superior grip, vibration dampening, and non-slip performance. I am excited to use these in the engine compartment (and have before), and behind the panel of N11GG. I have seen regular zip ties damage fuel lines, hoses, and wires from vibration so we have eliminated their use on the airplane where they are susceptible to damaging things. These are fancy but will save you trouble down the road.

What you see on our website is what we currently have but we are working on more. They come in either red or blue color, in boxes of 48, in 5", 8", or 12". Pricing is advertised at $19.99 (5") per 48 count box, $24.99 (8") per 48 count box, $29.99 (12") per 48 count box.

James, what's the maximum temperature they will tolerate? I've put several in the engine compartment of my RV7, but I'm nervous about it.

I’ve been using these on my Lancair IV-P since they first became available. No problems so far. And their padded thickness can be used to make sure that two components don’t rub together.
Best,
Tom

I have an excellent inventory of these Griplock Ties in 8" and 12". I am still waiting on the smaller versions to come so they are not listed on my website, yet.

Do you have the weights set accurately in your shipping section?
It showed me that regular shipping for two packs was $17; overnight was $135.

Yes, I weigh them in the box they should go in to calculate shipping. 1.6 lbs in a 12x8x6 inch box for the 12" ties for example.

Something is odd with your shipping rate calculator. Shipping for one box of 12" is more expensive than one box of 12" and one box of 8".

$20.54 for one vs $17 for two - UPS ground
$143.52 for one vs $135 for two - UPS overnight

I now have 5" ties and blue 12" ties in stock and ready to ship. I don't have a lot of 5" in stock but will have more in the future.

You might want to look at post office and fed ex flat rate boxes I used to send 2 pieces each the size of a loaf of bread for 8 buck 2 days coast to coast.

I bought a couple of boxes of the 8" and the 12" lengths (from Gallagher Aviation), and I absolutely love them!

I'm also using them in my engine compartment assuming they are as heat resistant / temperature stable as the box claims. They'll certainly be better than the old brittle zip ties they'll be replacing.

The quality makes them a good deal even at twice the price (for an aviation product), which is good because the shipping costs were indeed a bit out of whack.

The feature that lets you release and re-zip them is particularly handy when working with things like wire harnesses or to temporarily bundle things together to keep out of the way.

They would be even better if they had version with a loop or screw hole to attach them to something else.

Strongly recommended!

I have built a special flat rate shipping option for the ties. Aside from pulling them out of their package and shoving them into an envelope, they come in a pretty box, which is bulky. So for those insinuating that I am ripping people off on shipping, I am not. Actually I don't have a lot of control over the website for shipping aside from entering in box dimensions and weight. It then calculates. I do have the ability to make custom options, which will benefit those who live on the west coast more. The flat rate option will ship via USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground Select. If you buy one or two packs the flat rate shipping is $13. If you buy three to five, it goes to $19. If you buy six to ten, it is $26. I tested out the box and weight dimensions for some west coast addresses and these rates are more reasonable.

These are subject to change as I collect data on this.

I just received a significant amount of the blue 5" and red 5" GripLock Ties. I have all sizes in stock and ready to ship! If you are going into annual soon, these are the gold standard for ties especially when using them in the engine compartment.
