Just ordered from Aircraft Spruce because Redline has a four to six week delivery time and now I don't need it. Unit was $2050.00 plus tax and shipping and total was just under $2300.00. Unable to return so if you live in the DFW area, this unit is at the Arlington Municipal Airport. I used it one time to sell the plane and the new owner doesn't want it.

Will it move a Baron?

On flat ground, yes, up a high slope, no. It moves my DA62 just fine on flat ground, weight with fuel is appx 3,900 lbs. I have a SuperTow IV that I use more often, but that's overkill.

I have three of these and love them. I have two always configured for Beechcraft, Bonanza and Baron, and the third for my Aerostars. I think that over the years I have accumulated every aircraft attachment that they offer.

I personally always liked the fact that if you had an issue, which was very very rare, the owner of Redline, Linn Kastan, had no problem giving you his personal cell #. These days the day to day operations are ran by his grandson Connor. Connor appears to run the place just exactly like his grandfather. He is easy to reach and hands out his cell phone # as well. Every single part for the sidewinder is available for those times when someone drives over it with a vehicle and mangles it up.

My 601P weighs over 5,300 lbs when totally topped off with fuel and my sidewinder moves it in and out of my hangar with ease. It is under a 1.5% grade. I have seen someone else move a 55 Baron all the way across the airport with one. She used two plus batteries, but she easily got it where it was going. I have used mine on many 55 & 58 Barons and have never struggled once.

While the Redline Sidewinder is almost maintenance free, I think occasionally, as in very rarely, you do need to check and adjust the chain tension and smear a dab of grease on the chain with your finger and check / adjust the tension on the friction wheel. If you do that then you will get much better performance and the longevity of a serviceable life is definitely there. (Some applications like my Aerostar has two chains) the Beechcraft application only utilizes one chain.

I also still have a couple of OEM batteries from 2016.

It would be hard for me without my Sidewinders.

I rate them a 9.5+ on a 1 - 10 scale.

My 2 cents !

Frank
