There's two I've reported: Michael Bowman Gate and Vincent Esposito. The scammers are out in force now... They are scamming on all the forums and FB groups. Don't be a sucker stop and think before you send money to someone you don't know.

What I've seen here is; You post a WTB listing and you'll get a message from "Scammer" telling you he has a friend that has the item you're looking for and gives you an email to contact this friend. This is an old scam, seen this a lot on the Van's forums.
The common scam is listing a nice item, like a radio or Bose headsets, for cheap price. You get sucked in, send money thought Vemo, Zelle, paypal friends and family, etc. and never see your item or money again.
The only payment that has any protection it paypal goods and services, and a scammer will not take it since this payment can be reversed.
Just be smart, anything nice and is valuable is not being sold cheap.

I saw a Bose A20 headset for a RELLY GOOD price on Marketplace. As soon as the guy said payment can be made via Zelle I called him out as a scammer and not another word from him.

Venmo has protection now as well. You have to select it before sending money.

John

I posted a WTB ad last week and got an email telling me his friend had the part. I couldn't find the "company" on the internet so did not contact the "friend". Sounded too fishy but this confirms my suspicions. Thanks for the heads up.

Send these scammer profiles to the report button. If they keep getting shut down, perhaps they will move on to a harder target.

Also, never post your email or phone number in the ad. Perfect way to increase your odds of compromise. As a buyer, a phone call goes a long way to sniffing out D-bags. Call them! Can they talk the talk or seem clueless. You know how pilots like to run their mouths! :box: :werd:

Grammar errors are a common tell for scammers. Some contend it’s intentional to weed out the discerning, avoid wasting time on folks who won’t complete the transaction.

That is indeed their MO.
I can get my antenna. Just need to empty my bank account.

Google lens is an excellent method to find out if the pictures are ripped from eBay or legitimate sellers. FB marketplace is next to worthless and they absolutely refuse to remove scammers.
