The price that you list for the cylinder, which was likely from Aircraft Spruce & Specialty, includes the piston as part of the kit. Are all the parts, as some of the BT folks mentioned, available? Does this include all the parts with the cylinder or is it just the barrel and valve assembly that is shown? Did your A&P or shop provide a tag or a workorder for the removed parts?

I have cleaned up parts before under A&P supervision and that piston should likely clean up nicely. Given that it could be lead deposits, you may want to take it to a car shop that has a hood. Though that may be $50 for 15 minutes of shop labor.

Having bought and sold a few parts in my time there are a few things that may, but are not guaranteed to, raise the value. These can't guarantee you would get what you are asking and I don't want to stomp with a price comparison. Cleaning any TEL deposits off the piston may help. Pictures of the top, bottom, and sides of the piston may help. Pictures of the top, bottom, sides, and insides of the cylinder as well as the parts kit OR note that it is just the cylinder barrel may help. Information regarding the engine it was taken off of and when it was overhauled may help. Information regarding the serial number of the cylinder may help. That may be on the tag on the side of the cylinder.
