We never leave the hangar without it. Every time she, my significant other, casually mentions how much I spent on my new panel I remind her that “Safety” is priceless. After all, that’s why we got the 550 to replace the 520 a couple of years ago, right? It gets us more altitude in the pattern faster, just in case we have an engine failure on take off. But, I still hope that my “significant other” never actually figures out that there actually is the slightest little teensy-weensy little bit of difference between “Safe Glide”, “Auto Land” and “HomeSafe”. I guess if she ever figures it out, I will just have to buy a Denali, or a TBM, for the trips that she flies with me. Only one problem with that one, my bank account won’t support one of those. Safe flights, and while highly unlikely, I hope that none of us ever have to use that “option” for real. And yes, it really was 106° in the hangar with the door open, while I was doing my data base updates. Frank
