Assume you know this but a 55x will do FD and altitude preselect. I have both with an STEC55x and G600 in the TBone.

Stec kills you on recertifying and moving the STC.
SLIDIND IN A 3100 would be a good upgrade.

That’s right. It’ll be almost cheaper, or actually will be cheaper, to buy the system new. The value of the above referenced system is (replacement) parts value only.
