I've asked a couple engine shops about taking an A4K case (same part number) and using the A4A/A4M parts and re-marking the data tag and logbook but none of them think that's a viable path. Just trying to get one rebuilt and not have down time and swap it. Wentworth has one that went swimming but like everything else they sell, they want top dollar for it and at their price I might as well rebuild mine at full retail. I guess free bump for this A1A though...

Yes I’ve talked to a couple builders about that, but you have to tear the case down to replace the parts that should be an A4A - including the crankshaft which isn’t a constant speed prop in the A4A.
By the time I do all that I can’t make the math on this one work, but it should be a great deal for someone that needs this exact engine.
I’m going to have to buy this $5k case that’s overhauled with logs and use my engine with no logs for all its other parts and do an overhaul that way, it just grounds me for a couple 2-3 months when I want my son to be learning in it. :(
