Exciting news! As you may know, we have always been aircraft logbook (maintenance records) focused, only scanning, organizing, and transcribing those records.

However, we recognize the increasing demand for pilot logbook transcription and are happy to announce that we are now offering a pilot Pilot Logbook (pun intended) Transcription program.

We have already done a handful and our initial customers have been very happy with the results.

What you can expect:
After providing us the scans of your logbooks (or we can scan them if you want to ship them), we will transcribe the contents into Microsoft Excel (which can be transferred to Google Sheets if you prefer). By default, we will not transcribe the remarks section, but we can if you want us to.
The Excel sheet will total up the rows on each page, acting as a built-in check for your math on paper (we are yet to find perfect math!). When we find discrepancies (bad math on paper), we highlight them in the Excel sheet so you can make the necessary corrections.
As a premium add-on, we can also provide Pivot Tables so you can analyze your hours (SEL, MEL, Solo, etc) by aircraft make/model (how many SEL hours in a Bonanza, how many MEL in a Baron, etc).

How it's priced:
Since this is a pilot program, we are pricing on request. You can send us your logbook scans to scans@planelogix.com and we will provide a quote back to you. We have found, generally speaking, that up to 1500 hours of time equates to $399 or so. If you break it down, that's less than $.27 extra per hour of flight time.

How to get started:
Give us an email over at scans@planelogix.com or call us at (919) 903-9390. You can PM me here too, but I may be less quick to respond.

Blue Skies!

That’s a great service and a compelling price. It sounds like a good way to get a backup, even if you intend to stick with paper logs. Are the Excel files importable (is that a word?) as CSV files into other electronic logbooks such as ForeFlight or Corradine?

Hi Antoni,

Great question. In our trial period (before this pilot program), we did do a set of logs for the purpose of importing into ForeFlight (not Corradine though) and we can definitely do that for you. The task there is really a mapping between what your logbook columns read and what ForeFlight accepts. It appears that you will lose some fidelity since ForeFlight doesn't necessarily track the same detail as you may (at least that was our experience in that one example).

Technically, if we do the normal transcription (where we replicate your logbook's columns and setup in excel, which won't match the template for ForeFlight or Corradine), you can always take that and map it to whatever service you use down the line yourself. Since they are unlocked and editable excel files, you really can do anything you like with the data.

Hope that helps and thanks for the feedback!

Will

Can you do the opposite? Take a spreadsheet and write/print it all into a nice, bound paper Jepps style logbook?

Hi Adam,

Hmm, good question. We do that for the aircraft logbooks, but it was years in the making and not easy to perfect.

We don't have plans to offer that for pilot logbooks anytime soon.

Best,

Will
