The annual date in the advertising does not line up with the logbook scans. Last annual shows as 2023 and the IA signed as unairworthy. Recommend changing the ad or the scans.

The logbook shows that the aircraft was returned to service 5 days later, correcting the issues stated at annual. But I agree, I don' t see anything after 2023.

Useful Load is stated to be 2,105#, but if EW is: 3,985 and GW is: 6,100, then UL would be 2,115#.

Don’t FIKI certified Barons have boots inboard of the engines and a heated plate on the windshield?

Garmin has produced a GWX68, 70, 75 and 8000 but not a 74.

Also, no boot on the vertical stab?

This airplane is NOT FIKI. As per the flight manual, de-ice boots on all surfaces (vertical stab included) AND an electric thermal heated windshield hot plate are all required equipment for flight into icing conditions.

My bad guys. This is what happens when you're in the middle of 6 aircraft closings and you publish your customer provided information before it's been reviewed. My fault.

As far as capability goes, its equivalent. I knew a guy who used TKS fluid in his windshield spray bar in a PBaron and it coated the fuselage and tail evidenced upon landing.

I own a FIKI baron. I’m still not departing into any known icing that any turbo/deiced Baron can’t take.

Back to the sale!

Not when the boots are deactivated and placarded INOP per the logs.

If someone were asking me for my input on this airplane, I’m sure I could give them a list of pros and cons.

The forum rules don’t allow for stomping.

Any potential PBaron owner NEEDS to start with a prebuy using a 58p-experienced mechanic. A log review is step one.

I don’t see the need to drag :deadhorse: what could be a nice plane for someone after due diligence has been done and an appropriate price that mitigates the issues is settled upon. The asking price appears to be a realistic starting point considering some known issues.

Its not the owner’s fault his broker has mis-posted some details.

My .02

I don't think pointing out misleading inaccuracies in a broker's listing is stomping.
Commenting on price or condition etc negatively is stomping.

Furthermore I think broker listings should have a separate set of rules, they are here advertising for profit, they should be held to a high standard (how many times have I seen the wrong engine make, engine times, FIKI listing, annual date, etc in a brokers listing? I don't count but it's a lot). I rarely see the same in an owners listing.

Naturally, we don’t know if any inaccuracies originated with the owner or broker. However FIKI certification and a modern Garmin radar are big items. Certainly best that these, at least were corrected here and not at someone’s actual expense

While this Baron may not be FIKI for other reasons, inboard boots were not required for FIKI on 58Ps.

There's no negative commentary in my post. When multiple posters, to include the broker, have engaged in a discussion on the merits of FIKI vs non-FIKI surface deice I think it's appropriate to note that this plane, currently, has neither.
