Wow Gary. I am speechless. If I had the hours for an SPE I would be putting my plane on the market immediately. This is a stunning bird.
A few questions from a tire kicker if you don't mind?
-In the 501 world, TRs seem to be about 50/50 but this is the first 550 I've seen without them. Is it common? -Can you share your normal TAS and fuel burn at that speed? -What is the BEW and full fuel payload? -Who did your hot sections? -Who did the interior? I LOVE the ambient light strips along the top.

The drag chute and attachments were removed prior to us buying it. TAS 355 +/- kts depending on alt and winds. Fuel burn the typical 1,400 lbs 1st hr, 1,200 2nd, 1,000 3rd. Sierra Industries published a long range cruise profile several years ago and you can stretch the range quite a long way. With the GWI and full fuel you can carry a little over 1,600 lbs I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head. Ben Smiley - Aerodyne Stuart, FL does all of our work. He's the best guy in the country. Salem Aircenter did the interior work in Oregon. Gary

Username Protected wrote: How does lack of TRs affect landing performance on these? The book gives zero credit for TRs (since they could fail, they don't want you to land somewhere and not be able to stop). But they do help on contaminated runways and they also save on brakes and tires. Although brakes and tires are fairly cheap in the grand scheme of things. They are also helpful if you have long taxis, but I have mitigated this by taxiing on a single engine and then firing up the second just before takeoff. When I first moved into the 501 I was glad I didn't have TRs as I was already drinking from a fire hose and that was one more thing to worry about. But now that I have a few hundred hours I would like to have them (mainly for landing in the mountains in winter) but it's not a show stopper. Thanks everyone for the replies. Looks like non-TR 550s are more common than I thought.
