Beautiful plane. Much bigger. Hauls more weight, much better short field bird. This airplane is incredibly light at 7000 pounds empty; It’s a real load hauler!

I'm pretty sure you are correct on that stat but to me more importantly is the feeling that it is a huge leap in safety when in weather compared to my old 421. Turbines are much more reliable than piston and a Slowtation will still get you over a lot more weather. Relatively cheap to operate compared to other jets and even some piston until the hot section comes due.

We are doing at least 30 hot sections per year. On average they are about as expensive as a top overhaul on an IO-550. These engines have on condition blades and no life limited parts coming do so the next hots should be $25K a side in 1000 hours!

What’s the insurance environment for a 70+ ATP with 6000TT and 1000 turbine, but no jet time?

The good news - if there is any in that equation - is the hull value is low comparative to an M2 for instance or other in that class. So that should keep the premium 'manageable' but not 'cheap' per se.

In practical terms, what would be a minimal leg length to justify one of these jets? Justify? Hahahaha, that's a good one! Seriously, if I have a trip over 200 NM I'll take the 501 over the A36. But that's just me, and I can do a great job justifying!

I thought Mike C told us insurance on these was cheaper?
