Nice looking aircraft Sav.
The useful load looks a tad low. Any reason in particular?

Mike,

You can (and should) contact Sav of course (and I certainly don't want to hijack their ad and thread) but a 1051 pound useful load equates to a 2599 pound empty weight. This is 100% consistent with what the empty weight should be for late model A36's and G36's. Keep in mind that there are a number of ways to increase the useful load by purchasing one of the various gross weight increase STC's. Some of them are paper-only STC's and others require actual upgrades such as by installing tip tanks or the TAT TN system. You can boost the gross weight from the factory gross weight of 3650 to as much as 4011 pounds (GAMI/Osborne tip tanks).

So this greater than half $1 million airplane, albeit a very beautiful aircraft, with this useful load and full tanks becomes essentially a two person plane. Well, you might be able to transport to skinny adults and a couple of children. Not a criticism, simply an observation. And of course, I could be wrong.

Richard,

I am not sure how you can conclude it is “essentially a 2 person airplane.” It has a 607 pound useful load with full fuel. That is easily a family of 4 or even 2 couples. And further, D’Shannon has a paper-only 200 pound gross weight increase STC that is a few thousand dollars and GAMI has one as well that gets 250 pounds from what I understand. And of course, you can add tip tanks and get even more capability and useful load. For example, my G36 has a 1310 useful load due to it having Osborne tip tanks.

For what it is worth, the Cirrus full fuel useful load is even less and if you were to load the Cirrus with the same 74 gallons of fuel that this A36 holds then the payload would be virtually identical (plus or minus a little bit).

It was pointed out to me that this comment appeared to disparage this particular advertisement. It was certainly not my intention to do so. This is a beautiful airplane and a fine specimen of the quality build that Beachcraft has done for decades. I flew a 58P Baron for 20 years. Please accept my apologies. If I could figure out how to delete my comment I would do so.
