That's a nice looking airplane... over 300 S/Ns newer than my 1940 model that started out as an 8C. There aren't many around still in original 8C configuration.

I'm wondering what that upside-down spray can in the engine compartment is? That one's got me a bit baffled unless it's some form of homebrew crankcase breather oil trap.

If I may suggest, since you've mentioned the aircraft is going into its annual inspection... A buyer with any knowledge of the type will see tremendous value if the team doing the annual takes the time to photo-document the condition of the spars, carry-throughs and, of critical importance, the rudder cables where they transit both the forward and aft pullies. A good close-up of the cables to reflect their non-frayed condition will be a huge asset to a new buyer.

At a premium price point I suspect a buyer will also want to see a skullcap spinner installed, but that's just esthetics and easy to do. The true safety-of-flight concerns around spars and rudder cables will be the big items of import to a buyer.

Only the "C" models received the swoopy art-deco instrument panels with the compass binnacle - this makes them my absolute fav' in terms of cockpit esthetics.

Wishing you much luck with the sale of this true classic. She's a pretty bird!

Thanks for the kind words. As to the accessory on the right side of the engine compartment: I do not know what it is, nor does the current owner! He has a call into the gentleman who completed the restoration.
I'll certainly encourage the shop to document these areas during the inspection.

Does it still have the original fuel injection? My Dad and I fixed up a C when I was in college but he replaced the fuel injection with a carb because he thought he wouldn't be able to get parts. I heard it was pretty neat though. (Come to think of it that old fuel injection system is probably in a box in my Mom's basement yet.)

Hi Bryan,

Yes, although this airplane does have an electrical system, there is no starter so it must be hand propped. The current owner has considered adding a starter, but tells me that some cowling mods may be required so he has been reluctant to do so.
