All,

I have loved flying my MU the past 2.5 years - incredible and reliable bird. My group is upgrading to a jet and unfortunately, I can’t justify keeping it.

I would argue that N140CP is one of the best maintained and upgraded birds in the fleet, due to both the previous 17yr-owner and my philosophy of high levels of maintenance as well as the significant upgrades completed. I fully upgraded the avionics, cockpit, soundproofing, and lights. The paint and interior are great. There are no open squawks and the autopilot is operating flawlessly after much troubleshooting. Over $350k was put in during my ownership.

The airplane has amazing performance. Empty weight of 6800 results in a full-fuel useful load of 1200+ lbs. Easily cruises at 300TAS+: see photo. Quiet enough that my wife is comfortable without headsets in the back.

Has been maintained by ICJS for much of its life. Former Frank Borman bird. All logs, no damage history.

Total Hrs: 6230 (subject to change as flies weekly)
Dash 10 Engines: 2110 since OH (hots due in 390+100hrs)
SN: 362SA

I’ve been sharing a hangar with this MU-2 since Raj bought it. It is drop-dead gorgeous inside and out. I doubt it looked this good when it left the factory.

Things you get to enjoy on a beautiful example like this plane:

-4 blades are smoother and quieter than the 3 blades
-no SRL computers to deal with on the P model
-6 psi cabin
-those Hartzell propellers don’t suffer from the AD on factory 4 blades
-that panel… not only well thought out and capable but also lots of high dollar practical improvements (moving cabin altitude controller)
-dash 10 engines with significantly cheaper hot sections. If an unscheduled visit happens, their modular design is easier/cheaper to work on compared to -1/-5/-6’s
-interior, paint jobs, and avionics take time. This looks turn key which means you get to fly and not sit around for months waiting
-battery relocation puts CG in a happier place (makes it easier to land, trickle charge, tiny boost in speed?). Hard to come by the parts for this kit

The maintenance pedigree is reason enough to buy the plane.

Next owner will be very happy

Curious, it says new LED cabin and cockpit lights. Did you change the lights or just replace the bulbs with LED? They look original

Upgrades aren't the same as maintenance and fuel. MU2s are pretty reliable in my 3 1/2 year experience, but you do burn fuel. The good news is Jet A, especially contract fuel, is usually less expensive than 100LL, sometimes a lot less. The turbine also goes faster than the piston, so the fuel per mile is closer than you would think. I looked at pressurized piston twins pretty hard and ended up with an MU2. This has been the least hassle airplane I have ever owned, just one unscheduled maintenance event in 3 1/2 years, a gear rigging issue that took a day to fix at Intercontinental Jet, cost, $3K. Otherwise just scheduled inspections. You could do a whole lot worse than an MU2, and this seems like a nice one. It will cost less to own than any other twin turbine, and would be comparable to a pressurized piston twin, just much less hassle in my experience.
