My business use for an airplane has been diminishing for some time. That's a good thing as I'm slowing down. My wife doesn't fly with me, my kids are grown and out of the house and I'm just not flying much. Not that long ago I had a pressurized twin, then went to a normally aspirated twin, and now I have this awesome rocket of a Bonanza. But I have to admit to myself that I'm at a point where it makes sense to sell the Bonanza and take a break. Not long ago I was flying +/- 175 hours per year. In 2023 I've flown barely more than 10 hours in 15 flights. 2/3 of those flights were 0.5 hours or less just taking the airplane out to exercise it and not let it sit.
I bought this airplane last fall from BT member Austin Gunder who, with his father, both A&Ps, essentially rebuilt this airplane. It had suffered a prop strike (not gear up) 10-15 years prior and had sat in a hangar ever since. They spent several months bringing it back to life. In addition to doing a major overhaul on the engine and prop, as you can expect nearly all mechanical systems needed work. For the most part, the systems that were not rebuilt/overhauled to get back to flying status have been taken care of over the last four years and 350 hours of flying. The last couple of years has proven very high dispatch reliability with only minor squawks and planned maintenance.
Essentially all of the avionics are less than four years old with most being less than one year old.
A typical cruise is full MP at altitude (8-10k), 2,400 RPM, and 12.5 GPH LOP for 170 KTAS. I have seen a 1,800 fpm initial climb rate when cool outside and solo and a 1,200 fpm climb at 135 MPH indicated while climbing through 10,000 ft.
