It is with a heavy heart that I bring to market the 12 year love of my life "Sunshine."
N1600G is a very low time 1959 D50B Twin bonanza Serial Number 211 that I purchased in February 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. The aircraft was owned/flown/maintained by Southern Airways in Atlanta during the 1960s.
As a high time 77 year old pilot, the insurance companies no longer seem to care about experience, but rather just revenue and have raised my rates substantially over the last few years. The experienced pilots lack youth and the young pilots lack experience. An unsolvable conundrum with no solution in sight. Therefore, I believe it is time to pass this magnificent machine on to a younger steward. You never really "own" a Beechcraft. Rather you just get to enjoy it for a time while it is in your possession and then pass it on to another lucky custodian.
I have flown N1600G over 488 hours as my personal aircraft over the past 12 years. I call it the original SUV as it can haul most anything you can get in the door and with a 54 inch cabin width everybody can relax and enjoy the ride. Great family airplane. The "Queen Air" couch in the rear cabin is a plus you will not find in an airplane of this class. A little slower than a Baron, but the added spaciousness more than makes up for it. With 180 gallons and a 24 GPH cruise you can usually carry about 1000 lbs in the cabin and go 1000 NM with reasonable reserves. We have flown Houston - Ft Myers nonstop both ways without overwater exposure. There is even room for a portable flushing porta potty in the rear for long flights.
