"The Story"
I'm an indy A&P/IA, and every few years I buy a project plane, fix it up, fly it for a few years, and trade it for the next one. Picked this up in spring and just about finished, but in the meantime my mission changed. I no longer need an all-weather twin, so I think I'm just going to sell it. I've been through this one tip to tail and it's a solid plane. Well maintained, low time, no corrosion. (As a mechanic, I'm having a hard time letting this one go. All that hard stuff has been done.)

Throwing it out there at $195k to see if someone wants it right away before I start putting time on it. If no takers, I'll fly it for a month or two, have some fun with it, and then flip it over to a broker.

Airplane located in Oconto, WI. KOCQ airport.

Dennis Martin, 920-371-0947, or PM through the forum.
(Phone is better, but please - serious inquiries only! Normally I love to chit chat airplanes but I"m crazy busy at my day job right now.)

Great airplane. $195K is low in this market. Should sell quickly.

FYI, just updated the w&B. Useful load is 1766 lbs.

Also, forgot to mention it has a Garmin Flightstream 210 as well, for linking your Ipad to the avionics. Neat!

 You're about 12-14 months to early for me. I'm slowly starting to look for a new plane and a Baron is high on my list (along with an F33A or A36). I just started a new job and need to wait a bit to figure out my flight schedule/routine and more importantly pay....

Someone is going to get a real gem!

Cheers,
Brian

Looks like a nice E55! What is the story on the crash in 2/22? Any idea what happened to the aircraft logs prior to 1988?

No clue on the logs, sorry. Previous owners and I tried to track them down, no luck. It's got 35 years of history, and full engine/prop logs, so I wasn't real worried about it.

As for the accident, I got the story second hand, but if true it's pretty interesting. Apparently they had just finished some maintenance on the right engine (adjusting fuel pressure I think). Pilot was test flying, all good, so he decided to shoot a few approaches. On climb out, when he was nice and low and slow, suddenly all heck broke loose.

His comment was "it's not like in training" where everything is smooth and quiet. Banging, shaking, can't read the needles. Airspeed decaying...gotta do something! Instinctively he went for that right engine and shut it down. Unfortunately for him, the left had thrown a rod. (Now, before you go picking on this guy or saying that wouldn't happen to me, put yourself in that seat. Banging, shaking, airpseed plummeting towards VMC, and you have to do something NOW.)

So he now had a glider, and did a fantastic job putting it into a field off the end of the runway. Last few feet the push rod in the nose gear finally gave way and it dropped onto the nose. Minimal damage and....no prop strikes! (Both engines feathered. We have pictures of it in the field, and both props are 2 feet off the ground.)

Like I said, interesting.

Dennis, Nice aircraft and Thankyou for your time awhile back, I bought an un-advertised E55 on Sept 9th. This bird looks like a great well setup machine and in high demand hopefully it finds a new owner to enjoy it soon !!

Dennis,

VERY INTERESTED and AM A SERIOUS INQUIRY !!!! My partner and I (both ATP's) are looking for an aircraft to share, and this one checks most all the boxes. We both have cash and can move quickly without first having to sell an aircraft (I sold my Baron 58P about 6 months ago on retirement). I have an empty hangar at KLOT waiting for a replacement airplane!

You mentioned nothing of any damage history, and that the early logs are missing. Would you mind sharing that part of the story? BTW, damage history does not bother me if repaired correctly, and as an A&P, I would think you could brief me on this. Also, need lots of more pix, especially Panel and Interior.

Please call me at 708-349-2121 or email at George.Yundt@Comcast.net. The rest of my contact info

Hi Everyone,

Been a while since I updated this. Got a lot of calls (more than I would have expected having just posted it for sale here on Beechtalk). To be honest when I posted it the plane wasn't quite finished and I really didn't want to sell it yet, so I didn't push it real hard with the interested parties. Now it's pretty much ready to go.

Since I originally listed the plane:

- Put about 30 hours on the plane (will change as I continue to fly it)
- Broke in the new engine per Chuck Cooks' instructions. I was a little surprised, this thing broke in almost immediately. Called Chuck and he was surprised but said it happens.
- Both engines have settled in at about 9hrs/qt, keeping the sump at 10qts. May be less if you want to try running the sump down to 8.
- Worked through the squawk list.
- Painted the nose. (This is why I didn't post a bunch of glamour shots. Nose was primer green!)
- Installed a new vacuum pump.
- Installed a new nose gear tire
- Installed new batteries (well not yet, they are on order, be here Tuesday)
- Swapped out the G5's as the old ones were subject to a Garmin Service Bulletin
- Forgot to list the plane has large baggage door and Door Steward STC.
- Original ad said it had a KX155. Nope, it's actually a KX165.
- Took the plane on a trip from Wisconsin to Florida, then Texas, and back home. 16 hours. Flew great, no squawks.
- Flew at night, flew in rain. Everything works like it should.
- Landed today with a 90deg, 21kt crosswind. This really is a heck of a plane.

A number of you have asked for more pics. See below. Logs are scanned electronically and I can email them to seriously interested buyers (please, really only if you are serious). Have a couple guys already coming to see it this weekend. I'll try to reach out to everyone who reached out to me, but if I miss you please accept my apologies and feel free to call me again.

It's a little weird. After working on it almost daily for 6 months there's nothing left to do. Sat around tonight watching TV with the kids. Don't tell my wife, but.....does anyone know of another project plane?

136 gallon. If you can burn up 166 gallons in one sitting, you sir....have an iron bladder!

My Baron was under contract for the last few weeks, but the buyer apparently decided he wanted a newer, more expensive plane so it's back on the market. I've put a few more hours on it.

Looking at the pictures above there's only 5 seats, but I have the 6th. I've just been leaving it out.

Winter's here. If you want/need a de-iced plane, this one is ready to go!
