Here’s what I have:
1967 V35TC N3753Q (originally manufactured by Beechcraft with a turbocharged TSIO-520 engine) serial number D-8393
TTSN: 5284 Last annual 04/07/2021
Current engine: IO-520BA SMOH: 343.6
All logs are complete to new
No damage history
Exterior paint is at least an 8, aircraft is always hangared
Interior is recent all leather, with new carpets and headliner. Windshield and windows are good
Avionics: King KMA-24 Audio Panel King KX-155TSO Nav/Comm with glideslope (dual) Garmin GNX-376 Transponder/GPS ADSB In/Out linked to Nav radio and to autopilot (new 6/15/2021) S-Tec 30 Autopilot with altitude hold JPI EDM-700 Engine Analyzer (new 6/15/2021) Telex 4-place intercom
GAMI fuel injectors (6/18/2021)
Fuel Capacity: 80 gal
Propellor: 3-blade McCauley 3A32C76-S-MR
Overall, this is a very nice, clean V-tail with a strong 285hp engine with decent avionics stack, a nice leather interior, that left the factory as a turbocharged aircraft so only a logbook entry would be required to re-install a turbocharger, if desired. $135,000

Useful load is 1308 pounds per most current W&B following 5/2021 avionics upgrade. Aircraft owner is Stan Watkins, cactusblues@yahoo.com. All inquiries and questions can be directed there. Brian Watkins is my brother. I apparently don't post often enough to Beechtalk to be able to list this aircraft on Peddler Talk. Stan Watkins

I would be Interested in finding out more about this plane if it has not been sold yet. My email is if you have logs and or any pertinent information, or you are welcome to call me Jamie

I may be showing my ignorance, but if the original aircraft were not certified as TC, wouldn't an STC be necessary to add one? More and less expensive options would be available to potential buyers knowing the original certification.

the TC's were added at the factory as an STC option. Yes, it can be added later with an STC or a log book entry for this aircraft. The V35TC was made from 1966-69, then faded from the scene. They had a bad rep for going through cylinders and being gas hogs. I bought a V35TC in 1980 and promptly went through engines and cylinders flying 75% power and 50dF ROP on a single point EGT. No doubt the GAMI spread on those cylinders was pretty wide, some square in the Red Box, others happy. Cylinders came and went, gradually I realized EGT/CHT was needed for each cylinder and cruise over 65% was not a good idea. My son and I wandered into a Braly lecture at Oshkosh '96 and sensed this Lean of Peak EGT thing with tuned fuel injectors could improve our ops. Gamijectors, engine analyzer, read the Deakin articles, did APS, and the cylinder morbidity stopped. We got electronic Oxy delivery, IFR GPS, and were cruising 187 KTAS on 14.7 GPH direct at 16,000 ft. The only ROP ops are now take off and initial climb. Engines were going well past TBO, and we now have 41 years on the plane and our 4th engine. Others I think did not fare so well with the airplane. The owner of this airplane converted it to a normally aspirated 520, others may have done so as well. George and LOP ops saved this airplane for us, probably too late for some of the others. I have a chapter on V35TC ops that I'm happy to send by email to any owners experiencing frustrations with engine ops, gratis. These are great airplanes, just a bit ahead of their time.

The TC had a TSIO-520, correct? So it was an engine change, not just removing a turbo. Curious what the certification basis for the change is.

The engines on the factory TC’s were not the same as NA. They had lower compression ratio to prevent detonation. I think TSIO 520D? I don’t believe you can install the TC on a NA 520 under the STC.

"If" the STC were available, they're not, you could install it on a fresh airframe. Yes, those engines were not the same as the NA flavors due to intake heating. Some versions have the inner cooler, but, then it's not an TSIO 520D....and an inner cooler allows this engine configuration to make more HP (cooling the compressed intake air).
