This airplane is pure fun. I took the Sonex Onex airframe, which is a delightfully handling, stout, aerobatic airframe and wedded it to the super reliable Rotax 912ULS engine, which gives this Onex an extra 20 horsepower over the normal Onex with an 80 horsepower VW conversion. This gives this Onex way better climb performance and faster cruise than the standard Onex. The handling of this airplane is nimble, well balanced and very pleasant to fly. Put the throttle in and it accelerates. The Rotax burns 4 gallons per hour of Mogas or 100LL. It has a Dynon suite of avionics. I added toe brakes with Matco brakes and wheels because the Sonex brakes (the upgraded hydraulic version) could not hold the mighty Rotax for a normal runup. The cockpit is roomy (I am 6 3 and 200lbs) and comfortable. The wings fold to conserve hangar space. This is my second aircraft build. My first, a Zenith 701 was completed in 2007 and is still out there flying.
If you are flying a Baron, Tbone or Duke you need this in your hangar for fun flying when you aren't traveling with the heavy iron.
