So the TSIO was installed at the factory by STC. Owner removed STC and returned aircraft to “original” configuration, IO-520-B. Aircraft could have a TSIO-520-D installed again since there is still paperwork out there for this airframe somewhere? But it’s an engine swap, not just adding a turbocharger.

I believe this is correct. Unless you have access to a low cost 520 D, you’d probably be better off upgrading the 520 BA to TN if you want a turbo.

Yes, and there are TSIO 520-D engines that come available. Also this one has Oxygen and wouldn't take much to add the side cowl doors. Either way it's a good deal.

Mmm, then there's some pipes, waste gate, variable absolute pressure controller, settling for getting 13.7 Hp/gph rather than 14.9 because of the reduced compression ratio of the TSIO520D. The market has said thumbs down on this TC, so one would have to be a bit off mainstream to want it.
Possibly one convinced that range is by CAS, speed by altitude, that NA power drops off leaving the ground while TC can easily go LOP cruise climbing out of the pattern holding 240 HP up into the high teens with cool CHTs while TAS and NamG continually increase. Plus being willing to work with the numbers. Not everybody will be happy with this special combo of speed range engine durability, altitude capabilities at a bargain price. Then also that boredom of going direct with less weather and traffic in mid- high teens. Such a '60s kind of airplane.

One night, several years ago -I was on flight aware and came across a lone Bonanza

...following the coast of California, headed South at around 18,000 feet
Running upwards of 215 kts...

Intrigued, I Followed the flight that originated in Anchorage, Alaska
.... and ended in Chandler, Arizona

Kind of a Bad-Ass Bonanza ...and a serious trip...

I looked up the N number

Registered to one -Bill Compton-

The man knows his stuff ...and runs a High and Fast Bad Ass TC Bonanza

..... I Like the 60’s. America was on its way to the moon

....And Beechcraft was turning out some Ass Kicking Bonanzas

Gentlemen and Ladies, the TSIO-520D was NOT installed using an STC. There is no need. That is an optional engine right in the 3A15 type certificate data sheet. It can be removed and changed with a log entry as long as all of the required equipment is also changed (flight manual, engine instruments, propeller, etc)

TCDS for this aircraft V35 (not V35A or V35B) shows eligible engines are:
IO-520B, IO-520BA, IO-520BB, and TSIO-520D.

You could legally put the TSIO-520D engine, and the extra components required into any V35 of this serial range with no STC. It did not have to leave the factory as a V35TC. Only a log book entry.

Any other engine will require an STC or field approval.

100% sure about that, Kurt? But.....there were V35As and V35Bs that were factory TC aircraft using the same TSIO-520D engine. Were those planes built under a different Type Certificate? If so then was the TC installed in those planes an STC or just an approved engine? Attached is TCDS 3A15 and I don't see anything about the TSIO-520D being an approved engine.

However, there is this note further back in the TCDS that says the TSIO-520D is approved/allowed on the S35 through the V35B. Also lists/references a bunch of parts, Beech and AirResearch drawings that go along with it. It also mentions STC SA1035WE that looks like it is associated with the AirResearch turbocharger itself.

I was referring only to the serial number range of this aircraft for sale. Not the A or B models. The pages you posted in your reply are for a later serial number than the aircraft for sale in this posting.

However, The optional engine allowed on the aircraft is right on the page you posted yourself, but for later serial numbers..
