I’m not an underwriter, but that seems ridiculous. They’re fine with a 58TC but not a 58P??? Ask them to Please identify a pressurized twin which they would approve…

Do they expect 100 hours of mentor time?

Pressurization appears to raise some colored flags with insurers. IICR, many if not most require annual sim traning.

Sim training makes sense and is achievable. Setting a requirement to have done something before being insured to do that same thing is preposterous. I’d look for another agent.

I thought Forum Policy was to list price in the post? (Did I miss it??)

The price was listed previously. IIRC it was $279,000 with an investment of $500,000 plus listed. I thought it was sold?

My apologies...I neglected to put the price back in there. It has been added back in.

Jim-
It is absurd you were told that - you could be low time with a new private pilot ticket in hand - all it takes is time and money to be insured - in virtually anything. I think the word 'reasonably insured' is key here - you can definitely secure insurance but it will depend on what is a 'reasonable price and requirements' to you.

Brian,
May you share with us a general idea why the most recent deal fell-through?

I might be wrong but I have talked to the previous owner about aerostars a lot…

Short version: The previous owner bought another airplane (Aerostar) and couldn’t find hangar space locally. Brian offered to buy the 56TC back to make room for the new airplane.

Long version: I think the previous owner really wanted something that would do 1000NM and pressurized, his son actually was buying this baron and passed away…. Father made good on the sons offer (and loves beech products) and used the baron until he purchased an Aerostar.

Not too many brokers out there that would do what Brian has for the previous owner!

Regardless of whether you love the engines on this plane…..

Very few twins have both air conditioning and deice boots; and modern avionics. That’s a 3 out of 3. Then the paint and interior, looks great from what I can see.

Seems like a lot of capability, even if you throttle it back and fly it like a regular Baron.

Trey touched on the back story in this thread.

I did have a pending deal on the airplane. At the end of the day the buyer decided it wasn't right for him.

Whoever get this one...is getting a great Turbo Baron.

Thank you for the kind words Trey. The previous owner is a great guy that likes to spend money on things. The only missing part of the story is that while he owned this Turbo Baron he bought an F90. His life is different now with the passing of his son and he's turning his fleet over and sounds like the Aerostar will be the only airplane in the hangar...and the only one that doesn't have emotional ties to his son.

Aviation is a tight group. We all try to help people where we can.

Can the engines be run LOP? I think I saw somewhere that was problematic.

How similar are the engines between the 56TC and the duke?
