Legal department was concerned about roll overs with the big flaps is why they shortened them. Larry Ball was not allowed to mention that fact.

There was an article written about it in the mid 70’s.
Maybe Aviation consumer?

Wow Eric! Looks like you struck a nerve with folks who have '73 and older planes!! Can't you girls just let the guy buy what he wants and direct him where to find one instead of crying about how your four fuel cells are better than two??

Certainly!

Try controller.com and trade-a-plane.com. I’ve also found good stuff on barnstormers.com and eBay.com. Good luck :-)

Good Question. I have seen a few Pre-74 Baron Incidents/Accidents related to fuel starvation due to the fuel switches. Including the one at my local airport in KILG 2 years ago. I find the simpler the fuel system. The better.

Before the 1970 B55 I owned a 1954 E35 with 5 tanks and an engine that returned fuel to one. Managing the 2 tank per engine B55 is a piece of cake. I'd probably like the 1 tank per engine on later Barons just fine but there are some advantages of the system I have.

In three weeks a 1979 E Barron with 550 engines will be coming up for sale. The owner died a few weeks ago and his wife would like me to sell the Baron. The plane is located at Thermal, CA. Total time airframe is 5214. The engines have 1374 since new and both props were overhauled in March. It does not have deice boots. The plane fell on its nose in the hangar in the mid nineties and minor repiars done. It has a G500 setup with 750 TXI and King 250 autopilot. Paint is 9.5 and interior is an 8 to 9. It will list at $269,000. As the plane is in an LLC, I believe she will sell the plane with the LLC. If interested email Dick Welsh: dick156@earthlink.net

Technically, it's no less fuel cells, just two less fuel caps...

While the OP did state "Colemill, I suspect he's hoping for a P-II (IO550) but this one might be OK.
