Aerostar 601B Superstar I

Turbocharged, intercooled, non-pressurized. This is one of the best performing and efficient Aerostar models. Highly sought after for:

1. Highest Payload Aerostar, almost 2000 lbs, 1000 lbs with full fuel! This is due to having the higher 6000 lb gross weight of extended wing and turbocharged models, and lower empty weight, 4076, of non pressurized models. P airplanes are heavier by 300 lbs or more.

2. 76 Model is post spar problems 74 & 75 model years had spar problems

3. 76 is post corrosion problems early 69 & 70 models were not made with alclad aluminum and were also not sprayed with primer on inside

4. Pre Piper Year. This is a Ted Smith Aerostar manufactured in Santa Maria, CA. Empty weights went up as well as complexity on Piper built airctaft.

Awesome low total time airframe 3400.1

This airplane has NO Damage History and has an excellent operation and maintenance pedigree with COMPLETE logbooks. It was corporate owned and maintained by an Aerostar dealer then Aerostar World. Currently owned by an airline pilot and maintained by Aircrafters.

A few have asked about the interior. It was done at Chino Aircraft at KCNO.

I love how my 700 flies when it's just me and less than half tanks. It's a thrill. I imagine that's what this B model is like *all the time*. Beautiful plane -- good luck with the sale!

But that flap switch  :hammer: :stir:

No A\C. We had NEW darker tinted inner windows installed on the overhead cockpit eyebrow and cabin windows when we did the interior. This airplane has particularly great airflow. We have to close a lot of vents or shut air sources off in flight as it blows objects around the cabin and gets too cool. Benefit is less weight and complexity and resultant higher payload, better performance, and lower maintenance costs.

The MEI that I fly with has a B-Kool A/C cooler that he keeps behind the rear seats as well as a battery operated pump and hose for the water so that he doesn't have to remove it. So far he has had no leaks and it keeps the plane cool without much weight in the rear of the aircraft. His primary passengers are on the smaller side but the useful load on the B models, even with full fuel, are pretty generous.

That A/C cooler seems like a nice set up. Some of the other positives resulting from it not being installed equipment are: removable in winter so additional weight not carried around, easily maintained as it is removable, and lower cost to maintain as it doesn’t require an A & P nor is it included in aircraft maintenance.
