Looks to me like a case of too much invested to sell. Almost $50k out the door is laughable.

The alternative is to spend $15K to $20K on a 150, then do the paint, interior and glass, and overhaul the engine. Tell me what that would cost you, not to mention all the time, inconvenience and aggravation involved with getting all that work done.

When you consider everything, the asking price may be very reasonable for someone looking for a nice 150 Aerobat. It usually works to your advantage to spend a little more for the nice airplane to begin with compared with trying to make the airplane nice after you buy it.

I'm glad he got it restored!

We sold N2714J as a project. Traded for a Great Lakes Experimental project to be exact. That A150M was in bad need of a restoration when we flew it home from the Burlington, NC area. It looks like they did an awesome job! :clap:

Last time I saw this plane, we had just stripped it down to bare metal. It needed an engine overhaul, paint, upholstery, and new glass. How much does that stuff cost you guys? :shrug:

BTW - an Aerobat is not a plain ol Cessna 150. They are certified, loop, roll, hammerhead, and spin ( I know because I did those maneuvers in this exact plane)making it an ideal PPL and acro trainer.

It's a cool little plane.

The thing with C-150/152s and cheaper 172s it that you can almost always turn them quick to a flight school.

I love the 150/152.. I had a lot of fun in them.

Problem is I'm 6'4"/265. Much like a lot of the cool/cheap taildraggers, I just don't have enough useful load to be well, useful for anything but a 2 hour local trainer.

One of the best planes.
But it is hard to justify the kind of money he is asking for.
He probably have even more invested in it, if all got done by a good shop.
Probably bought it for 10k, and dropped an insane of cash into it...

Found memories.
Wish I had a farm, with a runway, and be able to have toys like this.

I flew one quite a bit many years ago while working on my license. That was fun plane to fly. I even used it for my check ride. I think at that price, if someone is looking for a certified aerobatic plane, a nice Citabria 7ECA would be a better choice. On the other hand, if they want to do aerobatics in a certified plane with a nose wheel, are there any other options? :scratch:

I've seen the Robin and the later Zlins but parts for them could be challenging.

These days, that is not an unreasonable price for an Aerobat, especially one that has new paint and is updated. A beautiful one was sold recently in the $70K range. I teach aerobatics in a 152 Aerobat and they are fabulous trainers.
