I have had a change in life circumstances and must put my beloved A36 Bonanza up for sale. The airplane is hangered at KCCB in sunny Southern California. It has been well maintained and extensively upgraded by Bonanza specialists at Waypoint Aviation and Foothill Aviation. It was featured on the cover of the August 2016 issue of the American Bonanza Society.

The plane is an excellent IFR family traveling machine with a wonderful useful load of 1311 pounds and good CG of 80.4 inches. It has full six-place oxygen, but I intentionally chose it without a turbo or tip tanks because the family and I like cruising at mid altitudes where we can enjoy the view; it is a great plane for somebody else in a similar circumstance.

I upgraded to a Western Skyways IO-550 engine and Hartzel Super Scimitar 3-blade propeller 178 hours ago. I now enjoy climb rates of about 800 fpm and cruise at 164 KTAS at 12.7 GPH LOP at 8.5k. I have been flying the plane 150 hours per year for the past 3 years.

The plane has an excellent panel with a Garmin 530W driving a KFC 200 autopilot and a beautiful JPI-930 engine monitor with fuel totalizer. Behind the panel is a GDL69A XM weather receiver, GDL-88 for ADSB in/out, and FlightStream 210 providing traffic, weather, and AHRS for synthetic vision on my iPad.

The plane apparently had a deer strike in the 1980s, but was properly repaired and has been flying beautifully since. I replaced the propeller and upgraded the engine after striking a cone at an FBO; thankfully the old engine was near TBO. The 1998 paint is worn in several place, especially along the leading edge. The interior was done in 2003; the sixth seat sags and is best suited as a child’s seat. The alternator annunciator occasionally flickers during taxi although the JPI indicates normal charging; cleaning the contact made the flicker go away for several months.

The airplane is in active use and times are thus changing. All specifications are subject to verification by the buyer.

I owned 17PK from 1996 to around 2010. Its a great flying A36. It did not have the IO550 then but it should be a strong airplane with the 550.

New forum member here, but I love posts like this. Where else can I see a listing for a nice plane, then have the two previous owners chime in on the post.

Nearly the perfect aircraft.

If there was a way to find one like this with TKS, I don't think I could say no.

One day I will have an aircraft like this...nice enough to plaster the pages of ABS!

Man oh man, so close for me.

TKS sure would be nice, but is rare on the A36 and is extremely expensive to retrofit. Might be cheaper to get a FIKI twin and pay for the extra gas...
