My dad told similar stories of rows and rows of fighters stacked on their noses, selling for 400 to 600. I think he said that the P-38s were $800 because they had two engines.

I grew up with ratty old surplus Mustangs back in the 60's. Had ride offers, Mom said nope. What a time to be an airport kid!
