Always good to see what's under the old paint. Looks pretty straight forward Charlie !

No new pictures or major updates this week. I did visit the shop on Tuesday to construct and apply a couple of sheet metal patches to the usually cracked skin just adjacent to the augmentor tube exits. This area gets bombarded with some high pressure acoustic vibrations from the exhaust. The paint shop crew was sanding all the tough to strip painted areas. They expect to apply alodine to all the freshly sanded skin tomorrow and monday and their goal is to get the first coat of primer on the airframe late next week. I will be going for another visit then to view all the areas that need bondo touch up before the base white coat goes on...........that will hopefully be sometime during the first full week of November. We are still tweaking the paint design and I will of course post the final sketches here before the color gets added. With any luck I will have the airplane back in my hands around Thanksgiving.

OK gang, as my father used to say 'We are getting to the snorting post', on the paint scheme. We are down to 2 very similar options. With some inspiration from a C-50 flight manual picture and adding some modernization and simplification those 2 options are shown below. The only real difference between the 2 is the inclusion or elimination of the mid-fuselage 'swoosh'. The Tbone fuselage has lots of 'white' space and that swoosh adds some color at the risk of being too busy. So I'm taking a vote, although a higher authority might overrule the prevailing opinion.

What do you think?

I like the boomerangs. That's what I call them on my Deb. I like them so much I added them to the wings and tail, too...

The colors are as close as I could get using the color palette in Microsoft Powerpoint.
The base in Matterhorn White
The stripes are Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings Metallic:
Sapphire Blue - the grayish color
Sky Blue - the intermediate blue
and simply Dark Blue
