Greetings All,
I've already posted a few times as a newbie to the forum, so I guess it's about time I post the requisite intro, so...
My family and I are currently on our second Bonanza, an A36, that we purchased about 18 months ago. Our previous Bo' was an A35, which we owned for 10 years. We're hoping the 'new' bird will give us as much enjoyment and service as the old one did.
I'm an A&P, so I do most of my own maintenance. I do, however, have someone else to the annuals as I'm a firm believer in having another set of eyes look over her periodically.
She is down at the moment for an engine monitor and digital fuel quantity gauge installation. That, as I expected, has turned into a clean-up of the laziness left behind by installation of previous modifications. The last two weekends have resulted the removal of four unused and one undersized circuit breaker, untold amount of unterminated (but still electrically hot) wiring, relocation of switches, and reworking of the electrical busses to what they are supposed to be. I even found two systems tied directly to the busses; no circuit protection whatsoever. I will never understand how "professional" avionics shops can sleep at night putting out work like this. I digress....
At any rate, we love the Bonanzas and the kids love the extra room of the A36. We do mostly local hamburger runs, but take two or three long flights a year to visit family. For us, that means 6 - 8 hour trips criss-crossing the country. Just the kind of flying the Bo's were built to do.
As a long-time owner, I'd be happy to share my experiences. See you on the forum!
Chris
