My name is Chuck Bodeen. I'm just a low hour student pilot, but I have been involved in flight simulation for more than 15 years. My primary interest now is http://AlphaTrainer.com (not sure how to use your editor) AlphaTrainer is dedicated to teaching pilots about stalls and spins...using the X-Plane simulator. We have recently added the ability of our AoA gauge to account for the effects of flap extension..."flap bias" if you will.I'd be interested in hearing from any of you who have opinions on that subject.

Hi Jerry, Hey, this is a lot if fun chatting with pilots. Many if my simulator friends (basically at X-Plane.org) are also pilots. I actually took just enough instruction to learn and appreciate the difference between simulation and the real thing. Tom Schefchunas is the owner of AlphaTrainer.com He is an executive jet pilot and let me fly a Cessna Citation XL for 22 minutes with the autopilot OFF. I also got to fly the XL sim for three hours. I have a friend who is an active F-22 plot. He arranged for me to fly an F-15 sim for a couple of hours. The first plane I ever controlled was a T-6. The next one was a T-33 which. I rolled twice.

Now that I have added my avatar, let me explain it. In 1952 I was given the opportunity to spend three days with Gene Autry, who was touring the country with his stage show. I was flown from Portland, OR, to Seattle and given a room in the Olympic Hotel where he and his party were staying. I followed him to radio stations, to an Indian children's hospital, and to his evening performance. Riding in an elevator with him, a man whispered to his wife, "Do you think that's really him?" I remember that when Gene asked Pat Butram to pass the salt for the watermelon desert, Pat blurted out ,"My Daddy always told us that if God wanted watermelon to taste salty, He would have made it that way. Finally I flew right seat in his B-18 from Boeing Field back to Portland. The pilot was Herb Green and Gene sat in the back with three girl singers, That picture is Gene and me next to the B-18 at KPDX. Gene's horse, Champion, finally died. and so did Gene.

Thanks, Tom. At my age I need to fit in wherever I can. Take a look at my post under "Panels". I have been working with http://www.AlphaTrainer.com for 13 years. We are just beginning a collaboration with Precision Flight Controls and have developed av AoA gauge which understand flap position. That will be used on their first 6DOF simulator which is being installed n Huntsville, AL. http://flypfc.net/tiki-index.phpMy hobby is flight simulation. I bought Version 2 of the X-Plane sim and have been writing articles about it ever since Version 6 was released. Used to write a lot for COMPUTER PILOT but when they went out of business I switched to the Internet. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showforum=124 X-Plane is now on Version 10. It uses fundamental physics for the flight model...unlike most others which use elaborate table lookups. So X-Plane can model anything that flies.

Nice to know you, Andrew. Do you have any interest in Flight Simulation or AoA gauges? Those two subjects are dear to my heart...as I am an 80 year old non-official student pilot. Chuck
