Hello! I'm a student pilot looking to buy a plane to build hours. I've found a B19 Sport and like it as a prospect. Can anyone give me their thoughts on Parts Availability, first plane stability and learning curve, overall expenses, etc. Really appreciate the help! Scott

Scott -- Can't comment on current availability of parts but I bought one new in 1966. Had it for 10 years. Put 900 hours on it. Great airplane even for a family of 4 where my 2 kids were small.

Check into www.beechaeroclub.org the $50 to become a member will be offset by all the info available for the "Aero Club" aircraft.

If you are considering this plane, definitely join the Beech Areo Club before the prebuy and post not just for general advice about the 19 but about this particular plane and the registration number. This will be the best $50 you ever spend in aviation. For a lengthy discussion about 1st planes (piston single 2-4 seats fixed gear) have a look at: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95270 . If you know your mission and the 19 fits that and your budget, then you will not be disappointed, but do join BAc first.

Scott, as I look back over the years, and the aircraft I have rented..........I would make my FIRST plane, my last plane! I only wish I have made the move to my V-tail, years earlier......... Consider stepping up, NOW, not later. Less money spent, in the long run, and MUCH more enjoyment, over the years!

I have a B19 "Mouse". It gets low marks on power, but it is built very well in Beechcraft form, comfortable, handles/flies great.
What I like about it, RANGE! With 60 gallons, it can do 800 miles comfortably. What other plane can you buy for $20k that can do that? Oh yea, don't fill it up with heavy passengers and baggage when you go. Most of us fly alone or with another person, so it rarely is an issue.
There are great deals on Musketeers. I say buy one.
