Just traded my turbo c206 for 2008 turbonormalized g36 with Osborne tips and tks. Have concerns about continental cylinders. Would therefore like to talk with anyone with experience with this setup. Comments about lop, temp, maintenance or other recommendations would be appreciated.
Also, initial insurance quote was high but after some search I found a reasonable quote. Would like to hear what companies are the most competitive.
Thanks for any help.

Mark, welcome, you've come to the right place and congratulations on your new plane. Let me be the first of what will likely be many request for pictures. As I've learned here, it didn't happen if there aren't pictures. I'm just updating my insurance. I had Avemco for years and was happy with their service although I've never had a claim so they weren't really tested. I switched to Travers & Associates to save $300 a year. Again, still no claim so other than the price, I can't comment on their service. -Mark

Thanks for any help. You've come to the best possible place! The TAT system? Did you get any info or help from the previous owner? TAT would have set up the fuel and the engine up properly, but since then, other people have probably worked on it? Even the big shops and the "famous mechanics" will screw it up, so you'll have to be very careful. If in doubt, call TAT. You may have trouble with cylinders, usually valve problems. Proper use of the EMS (Engine Monitor System) will give you plenty of advance warning. They can be repaired for $1,000 to $2,000 each. Treat each as an entirely separate problem! Think of having six little engines, not one big one. How much time on the engine now? What kind of EMS do you have? Consider taking the APS course, it will save you a ton of money in fuel and maintenance costs.

Thanks for any help. Mark- The most competitive carriers would depend a lot on your pilot experience. Generally speaking if you are north of 500 hrs total time, good high perf. complex time and IFR rated - you should see competitive terms from USAIG, QBE, Phoenix, Chartis, Berkley, XL etc....it is a very broad answer but the underwriting markets don't all have the same appetite based on the pilot experience.

Thanks for the kind words. Got the insurance issue resolved for a premium just a little higher than my 206.
Also, found a lot of info on this site about lop with turbo from TNT.
Hopefully take delivery this Weekend.

Chris,
Pick 536bb tomorrow or Monday. Do not have pics yet but you can see it on this site under "planes for sell." Jeff Henshaw still has it posted there.

John
You bet! Pick it up tomorrow. Have 10 hours of duel for insurance but will do more with my CFO who has 25k hours in most ga panes and jets and thousands in the Bo- his favorite.
Will also take advantage of programs described on this site. Appreciate comments/recommendations from members. Does not look like anyone on this site needs therapy to come out of their shell and express an opinion. Lol

Welcome Mark! You are going to have a ton of fun very soon! Where are you based? Have several trips lined up? You had better. You bought yourself a traveling machine. Have not seen the instruments, but based on the tip tanks, the TAT etc, she's equipped to go places, far and fast!

Thanks for the welcome. Just spent 1.5 hours Friday and 4.5 hours today. Cross country to klex with a lot of pattern work, slow flight, stalls, steep turns, etc. Absolutely love the plane!
The sales pitch has always been the analogy of my 2009 c206 to a Chevy and the g36 to my BMW 7 series. I remember thinking: yeah, right. Been flying for three years in my law practice and cannot believe I did not learn years ago. Consequently, my previous planes, c172, c182t and the c206t, were great learning platforms for private and instrument ratings but were nothing that got my passion up like my cars and motorcycles. Not anymore!
This plane has it all. I am happy to join your ranks and now better understand the loyalty you have for this brand. Look forward to checking in with you on this site.
