Greetings!

My wife and I are currently shopping for a Bonanza to do an RTW trip. We got intrigued by the idea a little more than a year ago and attended the Earthrounders meeting at Sun N' Fun last year. That was a remarkable experience.

Initially we thought we would have an RV-10 built flying behind a DeltaHawk XP diesel. The design would have 4000 nm range and would allow us to fly to places on our bucket list where 100LL is just not available. However, we don't have much confidence in a timely delivery of a DeltaHawk and are now opting for a Bonanza with the Dolly Parton tip tanks. We are just starting to look and have found a '77 V35B that's done three RTW trips and may work for us.

While I first soloed in 1971 I don't have any Bonanza experience. I talked my wife into getting her pilot's license at Redbird Skyport in San Marcos, Texas last year. We live outside Coeur d'Alene Idaho but I run a series of subsea technology companies (building civil submarines, deep submersibles and an undersea resort) in Florida, so we are in Vero Beach about half the time.

We appreciate being able to participate in the forum and look forward to learning a lot more.

Thanks!

– Bruce & Liz Jones

Welcome aboard Bruce and Liz !

Any questions you have, it seems there is somebody here who will know.

I always wanted my own submarine. Watching Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea as a child must have instilled that in me?

If you have not discussed what you are wanting to do with Wayne Collins, then I highly recommend you do so. I think he has done the trip a couple of times. If you need his contact details, PM me...

Thanks for the greetings. John, you can check out the subs at tritonsubs.com. And Jay, I met Wayne at the Earthrounders event last year and am talking to him now about this potential purchase. Great guy.

Bruce and Liz,
Welcome. Andrea and I are spouse members as well. Andrea got her license last year. We are part time on Lake Cascade in Idaho and part time in Northern California.
Hope to meet up with you.

Mike and Andrea

Welcome Bruce and Liz!
As one of the few Belgians on this site, I was raised on Jules Verne of course.... 20,000 leagues and all that...
Some submarine experience in my past... (Ex- Special Forces).
What a neat goal to have to go RTW in a small single!
Have you been to Tullahoma? You should. A couple of RTW planes there...

Welcome Bruce and Liz. How did you end up living so far from where you work?

The guy you need to talk to is Bill Compton, who is a member here. For all I know the V35 you're looking at belongs to him.

Bill has made numerous very long range flights. There is more to it than first seems, and he has a lot of experience.
