Aircraft: Baron 58TC
Hello!
So I have heard tell that this message board is full of amazing information that will help me to keep my Baron functioning like the day is was new, or better. Seems to make sense that there are a lot of people out there that have been through the same sort of issues, so seems reasonable that I should find some insight and wisdom here.
Some basic information on me is, I am the son of a private IFR rated pilot and grew up in the 60's and 70's flying around in my dad's airplanes. Got my own license and IFR and multi ticket in 92 and owned a Piper Arrow, and Seneca II. Stopped flying for about 7 years while I got another business off the ground, but then started up again buying my current Baron 58TC with a friend and partner in 2004. I have about 1400 hours with most of them in the Baron. My partner in the 58TC Baron moved to CO so I bought him out and he purchased a P Baron and he is the one recommending this site.
My Baron N18433 is a 1977 and we purchased it with only 1700 TT and low time engines. I have upgraded it steadily over the years, at first it was maintenance and performance upgrades, then moved to paint and interior. We often get compliments on the paint and interior... we think she's pretty.
We live and fly out of Arizona.

Excited to learn stuff here with this group...

Jeff,

Welcome to BT. How do you like the TC?
Just curious, what are the typical missions that you need such plane?

Tim

Nice to meet you Tim...
My former partner and I are both avid cyclist and race mountain bikes and road bikes. So we wanted to be able to carry 4 guys and 4 bikes. That along with wanting a solid all weather, fly at night over mountains pretty much meant a twin. We considered a P Baron but at the time we did not want to give up the useful load and added cost for maintenance. I also have a family of 5 plus two dogs and in the summer we use the plane a lot to fly to either CA or CO to get out of the heat. Most of our legs are 3 hours or less and this bird can be at full load and still fly 4 plus hours at 200 knots no problem.

Welcome
I read about those in my old ABS magazines. It must somewhat of a transition.

Good luck,
Mark
