G'day All,
Having owned a 1979 A-36 for around 7 years, my brother and I recently moved up to a 2007 TN G-36 VH-KAU (s/n E-3811) which was previously owned by several members of Beech Talk.
We are now on a bit of a learning curve with the G1000 but what we have seen so far is awesome. We are both keen to get more educated on the TAT TN system and operate it more efficiently. Looks like we'll be doing the APS course in Brisbane in May.
We are based in Gunnedah NSW (YGDH) and operate four Air Tractor 802 aircraft on aerial firefighting throughout the state.
We have plenty to learn about the new systems, but there should be plenty of fun to be had doing it. We are coming to the states in April/May and are wondering if we should attend FSI or a BPT program while we are there, we will mainly be in Texas.
Mick

Mick, That is a gorgeous Bonanza and lover the colors. Congratulations. As for APS, I agree that would be at the top of my to-do list if I just acquired this beautiful TN Bonanza.

Hello Mick
Welcome to beech talk. I know your aircraft and you have purchased well. KAU is without doubt the best G36 in Australia! I have recently purchased a G36 and gone through the learning curve with the G1000. I had help with the Sporty's G1000 training DVD and plenty of reading. With about 60 hours under my belt I am now feeling pretty comfortable with it. I am also considering doing the flight safety course in time to round off my G1000 knowledge.
I will be doing the APS course in Brisbane so I look forward to meeting you there (I am sure David Brown will chime in). I assume you will be arriving in style in KAU! You should also consider the ABS BPPP in Cowra later this month. Tom Turner of US ABS fame will be featuring.
Welcome to BT.
Regards
David
Ps I over flew YGDH on my way back from Avalon on Sunday and it looked as though you have had a heap of rain in that part of the World!

Mick:
Welcome to BeechTalk.
Do tell where in Texas you expect to be in April/May, as the Texas BeechTalk and SWBS (Southwest Bonanza Society) folks do like to (1) exercise their aircraft, (2) meet new people, and (3) eat meals at improbably out-of-the-way places, places best reached by Bonanza, and while require little in the way of excuse to do so, some advance warning is not a bad thing!

Thanks for the nice comments and the welcome Wade and Tim
David, I appreciate your comments on KAU, we thinks it's a great plane too. My brother and I just both downloaded the Sportys G1000 app for quick reference on the system. Yeah it's pretty wet here, nothing like Brisbane though!
The more I look into the APS course, the more I think we can't afford to miss it. We are still getting used to the LOP operation and the markedly higher fuel burn in the climb compared to the NA A36. We still have plenty to learn.
Spike, we will be coming in via DFW and then travelling to Olney and possibly Uvalde where we sold an aircraft to several years ago. We would love to catch up with SWBS folks. I will try and contact you before we come
Thanks again folks, what I have seen of BT so far it is a great forum with a wealth of knowledge and people keen to help
Mick

Hello Mick, nice machine, and a really nice hangar too Talk about rain...... Mr Young and his G36 with a few mates and myself and family in the -10 went to Avalon and back, I dont recall logging so much IF time in any one trip! Well the next few months are a feast for your eyes and ears. Tom Turner is an absolute must not miss. Myself and another BT'er sat down with him at Oshkosh a few years back....and that man is like a walking talking library on Beech. BPPP in Cowra in March..... Then in May, you have to suffer through myself and Andrew Denyer[he is not so bad :-)], but the highlight will no doubt be Walter Atkinson and John Deakin. Both of these will be rare if not the only chances you will get in Oz, so don't miss out. Make sure any of your friends who fly pistons of any kind don't miss out. Send me an email at davidbrown 'at' advanced pilot.com and I can send you a tax invoice which you will no doubt find deductible and as part of the deal get stuck into the online course as a kick start. Look forward to seeing you in May

It's been a little while since I've checked in here. Eric, thanks for looking after the plane so well and doing the TN and SVT. It makes a heck of a plane out of it. You're right, it really is quiet, my wife and kids often sit in the back with no headsets at all.
My brother and I are heading to DFW tomorrow and have the weekend to kill in and around Texas, if anyone from the SWBS is out burning holes in the sky, we'd love to catch up to you
