Hello,
I'm a retired school teacher (retired since 2007). I am active in my Episcopal church and stay busy there. I don't know much about airplanes but like to travel in our Bonanza.
After 5.5 years, and thousands of hours, of watching my husband, Max, sitting at his computer and browsing BeechTalk, I finally became a member, #20,505. Wow, you guys have a lot of members, and I'm glad to be here. Over the years Max has read many posts to me, especially the jokes. I won't post much, but will browse from time to time.
Max and I have been married for almost 47 years. I've been flying with him since 1969. The very first flight I took with him was on June 1, of that year. We flew in a Beech Musketeer Super III. The plane had a partial engine failure and Max declared an emergency. The tower controller cleared him to land immediately although we were about 15 miles away at 4,000 feet. I was so scared. The engine was running rough and maximum power was 1,600 rpm. Max told me later the injectors were partially clogged. I had to get my courage up to fly with him again. I guess prayer and the tranquilizers helped.
I love our Bonanza. It is so pretty, sleek and fast and has a cute tail. I always name our vehicles. My Volvo is Vickie. My convertible is Sara Lee, for the SL 500 model. Our first Bonanza I named Bonnie. Naturally, when we got another it became Bonnie II. We've flown her all over the lower 48 states of the U.S. We flew to all four corners of the 48 in 3.5 years, on four different trips. I like to fly fast. Max will even fly rich of peak, just for me, on long trips, because I like to watch the ground speed on the GPS thing on the dash. Oops, I think it is the panel, not dash. Sometimes I ask Max if he can make that ground speed number bigger. At least two times I've seen it go up to 225 knots. I think, wow, that's over 250 miles per hour. I like to fly fast and high but I'm not crazy about sticking something in my nose for oxygen.
I hope a lot of you will come to the fly-in at DKX on May 18. I look forward to meeting you. We've made a lot of nice friends because of BeechTalk and I hope we get to make many more.
Max likes good scotch. That stuff is expensive! If I drink scotch I put a lot of water in my drink. The cheaper scotches even taste good that way. I don't like Glenlivet. Max is glad of that and says it leaves more for him.

Welcome, Bobbi! Max is one of my favorite people, and I've never met him in person - he found my plane for me... and several others, I think. We've heard many stories with and about you - looking forward to hearing them from you. Glad you posted!
