Hi all,

I've been lurking on this site for almost a year now ever since I started my flight training. I've poured over countless discussions- especially the "twins vs. singles" debates. All in all I would have to say thanks to all the bt'ers. There is no other brand specific forum in aviation as active as this one to my knowledge and what you all have going here is great.

Long story short I was drawn to the dark side as it were and ended up buying a fantastic 1972 BE-58. I just took delivery of N9021V and couldn't be happier. I'm a low hour ppl with about 100 hrs total time. I started on my training in Feb. 2012 to fulfill a lifelong dream of flying. I'm not from one of those "flying families" so it's alway a little harder to get into aviation if you aren't close to people who are. I was lucky enough to have an extended family member who flies a baron and his influence and knowledge was invaluable. My insurance is requiring me to get 50 hrs dual before I can solo in the Baron so we are working on my IFR now. I am now realizing how capable this aircraft is in IFR. I had a Garmin GTN 750 installed to replace a KLN 90B before I got the airplane and it is an amazing piece of equipment. I may have to post some more pics to appease the masses and I will try do that in the near future. Once again thanks and I look forward to visiting this forum as a more active member in the future.

-Leif

Welcome aboard Leif,

Nice B58. I see you have boots and an alcohol windshield. Also, I can see you have a Norton radome so you should have onboard Radar. Your Baron looks well equipped to handle most IMC you'll encounter once you get your IFR rating. Build up some hours and get to know the Baron very well before you take on any serious weather.

Leif,

Welcome abord.....

Where in ND do you reside? I was born in Williston and still have some activity there, and get up there every now and then... but not in the winter.

Looks like a very capable plane... mine is similar.

Very nice looking Baron, congratulations. Do I see shoulder harnesses in there?

Thanks guys,

I am located in Minot (MOT). Yes to radar and shoulder harness and stupid looking antenna. I think that's the VOR antennae but it looks more like it belongs on an early 90s conversion van than an airplane. I consider it my canard. I would like to get rid of it but I'm sure it costs a fortune to do something different with it.

Next up for me is going to be an auracle engine analyzer. Then new autopilot, on to g500 and digital radar. But we are going to fly it as is for a while. Thanks for the warm welcomes.

BTW Larry I was born in Crosby, ND, about 70 miles North of Williston. The directions are as follows:

Go to the end of the earth
Take a right
Go another 15 miles and your there!
