Hello BTers,

I have been lurking here for a while and have been meaning to introduce myself. No time like the present…

I am the proud new owner of a 1994 B36 TN. I completed the purchase last month, fulfilled my insurance dual requirement and am now enjoying the aircraft! Until now, I’ve been flying a Hawk XP 172, but haven’t flown near as much as I’d like in the past few years. It didn’t help that aircraft was in Tulsa and I now live in Dallas. However, a typical work week has me traveling a day or two a week and virtually all of my customers are located at airports (we provide engineering, certification and custom parts for large aircraft modifications). After talking with my wife, I got her “buy in” to purchase an aircraft. This, in time, will serve to make the business travel more bearable, plus I get to enjoy flying! Then the question became, “what aircraft to buy”? I considered a higher performance Cessna single and the Bonanza. Enter Beechtalk… After some online research and talking with various pilots, mechanics and others, I settled on the Bonanza. One thing that weighed heavily for the Bonanza was the enthusiasm for the aircraft by their current owners. Beechtalk turned out to be a wealth of information and instrumental in my aircraft purchase.

I started my aircraft search by browsing the “For Sale” ads in the many publications out there. After a few calls to sellers and brokers, I quickly realized I needed help. Being new to Bonanzas, there was a lot I didn’t know and I needed someone to help me through the process. I called Neal Schwartz – one of the better decisions I’ve made. We talked through my typical mission for the aircraft, budget, likes, dislikes, etc., etc., and he set off on a search. In discussing the mission, I had hoped to use it for personal use, as well as business use, but wasn’t sure about my wife’s comfort level in small aircraft travel. Realizing this was key, I decided to arrange a flight for her. Neal helped with that and put me in contact with Matt Yarnall. He graciously took my wife and me for a short flight one evening. He did a masterful job explaining the aircraft to my wife and what should expect at each phase of the flight (the brief noise and shutter when the gear transitioned). She was completely at ease with Matt and his airplane. It helped that the air was calm and it was a beautiful evening just before sunset. After landing and upon exiting the aircraft, my wife had a priceless grin and commented she didn’t know what took me so long to buy an airplane! I had hoped she would be “OK” with it, but she was actually enthused and excited!

Now, back to Neal… He found “the one”. After we discussed it, he traveled to take a look and ensure all was as-advertised. Luckily it was, so I made the deposit. He handled the contract, met me there for the test flight and pre buy and even helped me bring her home! Neal is as good as advertised and I certainly feel he went above and beyond in helping me.

For the behind the scenes items, I ended up using US Aircraft Finance for my loan. Their rates and terms beat everyone else I called (I called about 7 lenders). I would recommend them.

I used Alejandro for insurance. I met him and Alison at NBAA this year and have nothing but great things to say about them. They made this process easy, have been very responsive and I really couldn’t ask for more!

As you can see, the people of Beechtalk made this transaction and transition easy. Neal, Matt and Alejandro, thank you! Each of you has made this a most enjoyable and relatively easy experience! And, thank you to all that post for the great information. Now that I’m officially an owner, I hope to be able to contribute something. Now, I am going to continue with a few more solo flights as I build time, experience and comfort in the aircraft.

And, here's a pic of the Bonanza in her new home! (KGKY)

She's a beauty Brian! So glad we could be part of it. Come to the Houston dinner next month if able!

Best,

AG

Brian, welcome to BeechTalk, and congratulations on your new Bonanza. I've heard more than a few people say that the TNed B36 is as good as it gets.

Since you just bought the plane, I'm curious - was there not a waiting list for the T Hangar at GKY? I'm in a box hangar at Denton, but would love to find a T somewhere.

Lots of BTers in North Texas. I'm kinda new here myself. A think a social night is in order after the holidays.

Chad

Thanks Chad! I am very impressed with the airplane and its capability so far.

Yes, a social evening sounds like a good plan. Once things get somewhat back to normal after the first of the year we should pick a time and place.

As for GKY, the city has some (or at least they did a month ago) available to lease. PM if you'd like additional contact information.

Welcome Brian!

Nice bird! Get to work on cleaning up that hangar a little. It's almost as clean as mine :pilot:

Thanks for the welcome! I am currently working to "stock the hangar" and make it a bit more "used". I need a tow, tools, and all of the assorted goodies. But hey, it's just time and money, right?!?

Thanks for the information Jay. I definitely look into those and try to make at least one of the events. Also, I'll try to make Houston, Alejandro.

Very nice, welcome to BT! While I love my fast and sexy V35A (based at Aerocountry, McKinney), I think a Turbo 36 is the bees knees (whatever that means). Down the road, perhaps.
