Hi, Brand new to GA, but have been reading everything I can on BT for a few months. A Navy pilot for the past 20 years and finally decided (along with 2 other Navy friends) to take the plunge. We recently purchased a 1972 A36 (with a LOT of help from Paul McCracken from Waypoint Aviation), and couldn't be more excited. Paul has been (and continues to be) a phenomenal resource for us while navigating some unknown waters. Highly recommend him if anyone is plane-hunting. We've learned a ton from BT already and will continue to I'm sure. (Stand by for a LOT of dumb questions...) Kevin Here's a couple pix, including my partners and I on delivery day and the family finally getting to see the source of the months of obsession. You've got to put some of those bullet hole decals or some war paint on that thing to feel more at home! Thanks for your 20 years of service to our country. I'm sorry the current administration thinks you're no longer relevant.

Equipment list, hmmm - I'll give it a shot: IO 550 Garmin 430 MX-20 STEC-55 Autopilot EDM-700 (and the baggage mod, which was put to full use with the four kids on the first trip!)
What am I missing Paul? Oh, u Navy guys are so modest!: Truly a great group of guys to work with. And it continues my work with AF, Army, USMC, and Navy guys over the years...I have helped quite a few get into their first Bonanzas...and have made many long time friends because of it. SL30 (simply the best navcom out there) New leather interior with Beechcraft logo embroidery, etc GTX330 PS Engineering Stereo ICS Speedbrakes (ugh) Auto trim (standard on the STEC55?? dunno) New glass Alpha Shoulder Harness Inertia reel system with new rear belts, too Aircraft CD player And its a '72 model....these guys knew what they wanted and got it. Good useful load, good candidate for tip tanks and TAT Thanks again guys Never knew the Navy claimed Millington as theirs!! Inland Navy Base, who wudda thunk it? Paul

Quote: What's the "UGH" about the speedbrakes?! Use them all the time in Hornets...are they not used much in the Bonanza? You've got me scared to touch'em! The installation of speedbrakes seems to stir passions... Its a whole 'nother thread... PMC

What's the "UGH" about the speedbrakes?! Use them all the time in Hornets...are they not used much in the Bonanza? You've got me scared to touch'em! Kevin, Speed brakes are for your mistakes, and poor ATC handling, and for the most part that rarely happens. They are HORRIBLY inefficient and carry extra weight, especially if you're paying for gas. They "may" be of some value in really short field landings... however moot, as you make not wish to get in where you can't get out.... for the most part. For a jet... perhaps, and there were a few times they made things work in the Boeings, but still hated to use them, unless there was no other alternative. In a piston there's plenty of alternatives.... just pull the power back works most of the time. For me, I'd remove them in a piston plane.
