Hi everyone, My name is Margaret. I normally fly Cessnas, but I'm trying to change that. Have about 400hrs; got my instrument this winter and am really enjoying it. I actually learned in NJ (N87 and then TTN) but now fly out of IN (BMG). (Actually, before anyone comments, I really do like Cessnas, just not quite enough to buy one - have been lucky enough to be in a C182 G1000 for the last few months, which is amazing!) Anyway, my husband and I are looking for a plane right now. We both travel for work a lot and have family a few states away, so first we decided that we want a decent xcountry plane. Then I decided completely irrationally that it has to be complex, and our budget decided that it has to be old. And, finally, I admitted, reluctantly, after a test flight in a Mooney, that what I really wanted was a Bonanza... my husband laughed a lot and then said, "Why not?" You see, back in the day, my PPL instructor had a V35B which he graciously let me fly a bit. And so I was hooked... This whole thing is very exciting but actually kind of scary. We're going to own a plane before we own a house! Margaret

Good luck with the search. I just bought a house, and would love to get an airplane. I can't quite justify it right now (student loans), but I do have this inkling in the back of my mind that if I'm going to buy, now is the time. You think there's any truth to that?

Good luck with the search. Thanks! And so much more fun than a house (I say as the long-term renter...).

I would agree....lest you think the sky is going to fall. Think about it....since the stone age man has been overwhelmed with a desire to fly....it ain't going to disappear too quickly. Europe is a worse case scenario...without getting political, you can't tax your way to prosperity. It's what killed aviation there. I doubt our culture will tolerate much more of the current nonsense. Quality airplanes are a steal right now.

Welcome to BT Margaret. Older Bo's are fine and great - I love mine and it was what my budget would allow with a mortgage, 2 kids, and their need for college.
Get a good prebuy, get what you want on it, respect an older plane, be proactive in your maintenance, and fly often... You and I have just about the same amount of experience. That advice given is not from my experience, but given to me as well and can't poke a hole in it's logic.

Welcome. As you search, keep in mind the S35....it's the beSt of the bunch! Don't forget to add your location to your info. Somebody near you may have a lead on a good airplane.
