It's a love affair with what you get.

I'm with Jason on the A36, but plenty of guys love the "little" V tails. :hide: Sorry, just had to say that. It depends on your mission. I love six seats in the A36 and with a big family use them often.

...I know, plenty of the 6000+ V's still flying have six seats...but no double doors...just stirring it up... :coffee:

Ron,

Got that right. From the utility standpoint, hard to beat the 36/58.

What is the typical useful load for an A36? Just curious. Rich and I were talking about this today. I am familiar with the useful for the 35 series but not so much the 36.

Thanks,

Robert

Depends on your equipment. For my aircraft 2505 empty. 3650 Gross. 444 fuel. 701 full fuel useful load.

Since we get 2+ hours with reserves with 1/2 fuel you can easily add another 222 lbs. when needed. That allows a respectable 923.

Without luggage this allows three 190 lb men and three 117 lb women. Or a reasonable complement of luggage with two couples and two children. IE: Two of the men and women. Two 50 lb children and 208 lbs of luggage.

I load as much luggage between the pilot seats and the middle passenger seats as practical for balance. The space works well for the average size roller bags.

At 160 you can travel 320 miles with half fuel. Having a large family I often max out my seating. Having grandchildren I often do it with full fuel because they don't weigh much. ...and my wife and I weigh less then my example adults...

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Robert Williams for taking me on a flight in his awesome V35A. It was great getting to see how fast these planes are and how much room they have. I'm still not completely won over, there's just something about a Navion that keeps attracting me that might not even make sense.

I did spend a whole lot of time over the weekend checking out used Bonanza's though...

That sounds better. My last V35 and my current V35A both had useful loads of just over 1280.

All good advice.

Let me just add that the V-Tail is infinitely more beautiful than the A36/F33s.

You left out faster and more likely to be flown by real men. :coffee:

If I'm not mistaken there's a Travel Air open for partnership by Mrs. Jeannie (sp??) that may need to be mentioned in this discussion as well. I think she's based out of Kansas City.

It's Jeanné Willerth (jenn-Aye) and she is in KC.

Welcome Rich,

Get the A36! its sleek, fast and classy. I never rode in mine till the day it came, and I still to this day look forward to getting in it with all my friends. I get 1200 lbs to split between fuel and big boys!

Welcome to BT
