Hello Everyone,
My name is Michael Crackett and I am a corporate and freelance charter pilot living in Durban on the East Coast of South Africa. I am rated and fly Baron 58's and King Air 200's out of a general aviation airfield called Virginia. At about 900m in length and sitting at sea level its fun to fly in and out of. I am also about to start flying the Duke which is quite exciting.
Attached is a picture of me flying JJV out of a place called Richmond after a fun filled fly in.
I am looking forward to enjoying many hours on Beechtalk and have already read the Duke thread with interest.
Cheers everyone,
Mike

Thanks Larry, I hope I did not infringe any copyright laws but I figure it does show name of the photographer and the source so I am covered. Here is another just touching down at Virginia.
Cheers,
Mike

Mike, that Virginia field is a great place to be based. We called in there on our way back home from Cape Town a few years ago. You must know Mary de Klerk from the flying club, she was a great help to one of our colleagues when he crashed his Bonanza in Kenya. Nothing was too much trouble and I know my friends will never foget the efforts she went to.
One thing I remember about Virginia is having to dodge round that appartment block on final approach, great fun.
Will

Hi Will,
Mary is still very involved in general aviation and organises various fly-ins, cross country rallies etc.
Virginia is a blast. Its been around for over 60 years but its future is no longer certain given the demand for its prime position and political interference in trying to cancel the lease and sell the land off. We live and hope. In the meantime we enjoy the Wings Club where a beer costs about $1 and the view is great.
Cheers,
Mike

Mike, Welcome! Gorgeous pictures of the Baron! Virginia sounds like a great airport. Best wishes for it to be so for another 60 years Drew

Cheers everyone,
Mike Hi Mike Welcome to Beechtalk. I see you are driving your Baron on the left side of the road, just like here in Australia. Eric

"Howzit" Michael I left South Africa over 20 years ago. Great country, South Africa, but either stay and enjoy or leave. Don't spend your life deciding. I even had the opportunity to Fly SAAB's for Regional Express here in Oz for a while. Plenty of opportunity for pilot's with turbine experience. It's a great place to live. If you need any info feel free to pm me. Cheers Eric
