Hello from Perth, Western Australia.
I have always had a likeing for the Musky/Sierra et al.....almost bought one.
The closest I have come is a collection of parts accumulated over past 20 years.

As fate decreed... I now have a French 4 seater....SUD GY80 "Horizon"
1964, Lycoming 160hp. I particularly like the 2 doors.
One point of interest with the Horizon, is the semi retract gear. It is wound up by crank handle between front seats. Also, the retract machanism is attached to the flaps.....so flaps and gear go up/down together.

I like to keep an eye on the A23/24 types in case I ever have to replace my Horizon.
Allan
ps...35 Celsius / 100 F. all this coming week here.

Hi Arlen
WOW!...that was fast!....You Americans don't muck around.
You asked for fotos of my GY80....I'll have a go at posting a couple (I have hundreds, of course)...first I will just have to study the procedure for doing this (I'm a newby at this).
Re the "gear in action"....I would also like to see it!.....I've wound it up and down many times (19 turns of crank)....but, as you can imagine, I can't see the result, apart from the flaps. I am eventually going to obtain a pair of jacks so that I can see how it works.
The system is mechanical (rods), with indicator lights, and lock.
Also, if I throttle back , as if preparing to land, an electric horn will hoot if gear not down.
My landing check is to see 1. a green light, 2. flaps are both down (thus so must be the gear)....and 3. crank handle lock is in "down" position.
I plan to instal one of those minicams under the belly, to get video of gear in operation and touchdowns & takeoffs. I'll go work on foto upload now . yours, Allan

Hi again Arlen
Here I will attach a few fotos of the Horizon....I don't know if this is allowed, since its not a Beech.
I see there is a max of 5 fotos allowed.
I have hundreds of fotos of other GY80's.....some inflight show underbelly.
I am a member of French Assoc. of GY80 owners.....APAG. They have a website .

Nice.

...looks like a trailing link landing gear? If so, it makes for nice and easy landings...

Hi Arlen

Yes...trailing type.....French like that....eg Nord.
Here is a good foto of another GY80...shows well the gear...you may be able to see the rods that connect gear to flaps.
I don't have to think about what flap setting to use!

A few more file fotos to show the Horizon undercarriage setup.
You see that the wheels protrude when fully up....like with the DC3.
In event of belly landing....it happens....fuselage is protected.

the cockpit foto (not mine) shows the crank handle used to wind gear/flaps up/down.

Also...I've thrown in a foto of my Beech Custom 111 cabin section....part of my collection of Mouse parts (stabilator, L.wing, etc)

Allan,

I'll join in on the "Welcome to BT" thread.

Thanks for all the photo's. Cute little plane, looks like a lot of fun to fly.

I think you'll find that we have a few other members from OZ here.

Welcome to BT! One thing you will find is that we love pictures of any plane.....actually it doesn't even have to be a plane

Welcome Allan,

Nice looking aircraft. Again as has been stated, we don't care, for the most part, what the pictures are of, as long as there are pictures, lots and lots of pictures.
