I just got my PPL 10/10/10 and bought my Bonanza. Its 4X the plane I ever thought it would be! I have 8 hours in it and cant wait to get all 20 out of the way so I can fly by myself (insurance reqmt). I know its high performance and complex but go ahead and tell me to be careful again. I like to hear it and I am cautious and very respectable of all of these years of experience I have been reading about. Thanks Beechtalk contributors for giving folks like me great advice and sharing your wisdom. Chris

Some day you will understand what an accomplishment this is two have a beautiful Bo at this time in your flying career. Congratulations! Everyone here knows what it takes in life to get where you are at. OK, this is my buzz kill, but I am going to say it. As you spread your wings in your Bo, please-please, do not stretch the envelope with innocent passengers in the airplane. If you want to try a new mission and stretch your capabilities by yourself, knock yourself out. But it is the ultimate pilot sin (IMO) to take passengers along when you are stretching your capabilities. My post will get blasted by some, but that is OK. But, I know b/c I have committed this mortal sin and experienced the fallout. Flying is a marathon, not a sprint. Set up a comfortable pace and always fly to 75% of your capabilities and you will be a proud and competent Beech owner many years from now. Move the bar of your 75% competency threshold by taking on the next rating and training. Enjoy, and I would love to see your Bo and you in person some time. If ever in the area of KDSM let me know and you we will roll out the red carpet. Congratulations from the heartland.

Awesome Chris. You'll be getting insurance discounts before you even have a chance to gripe Congrats on the PPL! Keep it going!

We've all been that brand new pilot with still a lot to learn. I had my big wake up call when I flew some hard IMC with a relatively fresh IR some 20 years ago.
