Aircraft: Bonanza A36
I'm a 1200 hr fixed gear private instrument pilot who has a pending purchase of a 1984 A36. Got my private license in 1972 at KOSU flight school.

Looking to make a smooth transition to retrac's and assure I never make a gear up landing. Will make a 5 hour flight back to PA w/ my flight instructor to bring the "new" plane back to PA.

Open to advice from you veterans.

Welcome! :D

I might suggest a little more time with the CFI as that one flight will get you 1 or maybe 2 landings. Do some local flights with plenty of landings - get in the habit of checking that the gear is down AT LEAST 3 times before landing. I always say it out loud, even when I'm by myself.

Thanks Kieth----I'll do plenty of landings and will propose we make some landings on the way back to PA. Been doing my "GUMPF" for years---just haven't paid attention to the "U"

Now, we will want to see pictures.....

Also, if you haven't done so, get a good BONANZA SPECIFIC instructor and take about 5 hrs dual to nail Bonanza specific numbers and limits for yourself and learn from there.

And consider the BPPP training program.... good stuff.

The BPPP folks can recommend a good instructor in your area. ww.bppp.org
