I went to Oshkosh with the intention of narrowing down my choice of an airplane, and after seeing many different choices and speaking to other owners about their aircraft and what they liked and didn't like, I have decided to purchase a Bonanza, hopefully in about 6 months.

I look forward to viewing posts on this forum so that I may make a better educated choice for my airplane-to-be.

Shane

Welcome, you have made the right choice.

41 years' experience in aviation and I own/fly Beech. I flew/owned each of the other brands before I got here.

I will never go back.

Done!

By the way, I live just outside San Antonio, and will likely be keeping my plane near 5C1 or KCVB.

You've made a wise choice to purchase a Bonanza. I owned a Cherokee 180 for 12 years before trading up to a Bonanza. The Cherokee was a terriffic plane, pretty comfortable, performs Ok with one person and the speed was so-so. However, it seemed at least every six months it had to go to the shop for something. There was always an oil leak, flat strut, loose fitting or cracked plastic part.

I've owned the Bonanza for 12 years. It's down for annual about two weeks a year and that's about it. Even though the Bonanza is 10 years older than the Cherokee it has about the same number of hours. A Bonanza a well engineered, solid, easy to operate and much easier to land than a Cherokee flying machine. A side benefit is that a Bonanza pilot gets a whole lot more respect from ATC than a Cherokee pilot and when the tower asks you to slow down upon entering the traffic pattern you know you made the right choice.
