Hi All,

I have been reading BT for a month now and am sorry to say I am just now popping my head up to say HELLO. I am a low time pilot (170hrs) with a B36TC in Torrance, CA. I got my ticket 15+ years ago but got so busy early in my career I just kinda fell out of flying. I woke up one morning last November with absolute conviction that I had to get back up in the air. Since then I have logged about 40hrs and am 15 hrs into my instrument training. There is something magical about every take off and landing.

My typical flights are from Torrance to mammoth, Santa Barbara and Las Vegas.

This site is a great resource and I thank you all for your contributions.

Thanks,
Jon

Welcome back Jon. Do you live in Torrance too? I used to live in Hermosa Beach...but was a CFI out of Santa Monica (had a better job offer). I used to solo all of my students down at TOA during the week though because it was such a great little airport. Tons of Bonanza activity at TOA. I just flew one a month ago out of there.

Hi Niel,

I have an office in Hermosa....its a great little beach town. Sorry you left.

You are right, Torrance is a wonderful little airport. Before moving down south, I flew out of SMO. Maybe we met?

Thanks for the welcome!

Possibly? I instructed at Justice Aviation from 7/99 until 3/00. I still go back to the SMO holiday party in December every year. Great airport. Where in your office in Hermosa? I love that town...am there almost every time I lay over for work at LAX. I'll probably be there over the 4th for a few days actually.

Welcome, Jon.

You've come to the right place for biased information about all things related to how many engines are needed to the proper way to "hot-start" a Continental engine and all other things related or otherwise.

Again, welcome, visit and post often...AND it is a requirement to post pictures of your airplane (I think that is in the rules somewhere. ????). :D

Hi Neal,

My office is on Pier Avenue...near Ragin Cajun

In 1999 and 2000 I was living on the westside, renting Archers out of Justice....so we could have met.

I am planning on flying to MMH and Tahoe over the 4th so will likely not be in town. Send me a PM next time. Nothing better than spending time with a fellow pilot!.

Too funny, small world. Do you remember who checked you out? I'm pretty sure it wasn't me...I'd have remembered you I think. But I'll check my logbook anyway.

I'll definitely let you know the next time I'm in HB. A buddy of mine from Continental Express is now a mortgage broker and his office is also in HB. He flies a friend's A36 out of TOA. I'll drag him along to meet you. Great guy.

Great! Drop me a PM with your mobile number in the event we stay in town this weekend. We will grab a beer.

Hi Jon, welcome to BT, it's addictive. I lived in Torrance and went to High School there. Flew out off HHR 69 thru 82, moved A36 out to CNO when I moved down to Mission Viejo in 82. Left there after twenty years and moved in retirement to Texas eight years ago. Enjoy, Don
