Hi everyone.

...been flying for 25 years; been through Cessnas, 2 Commander 114s, a Cirrus SR22, a Piper Lance, and a Mooney, and now am the proud owner of my 1967 C33A with its Atlantic Aero ("tuned induction") IO-550 R, purchased in April 2009. I must say that it is my favorite of all of them.

I'm also a member of ABS; read about this place and decided to give it a try.

Here are a couple pics: note that I changed my N-number last month, and this is an aerial that was shot a few months ago (so it's the old N-number).

Welcome to both Eric and Arlen

Arlen, I currently fly N34AS...any significance to the "7" in N7AS?

Jeff,
AS is obviously for my name, and the 7AS was the only single digit available. Actually, it's a long story, but I'll give the short version here.

I looked on the FAA database to see what N-numbers ending in AS were available and, of course, none of the single digits were open. But, the N7AS, although assigned to an aircraft, had not been registered and active since 1989. Being the smart guy that I am (ha), I figured it was not an airworthy plane. The hard part was tracking down the 1989 owner, but they turned out to be an aircraft parts company, and the plane had been parted out. The FAA required that previous owner to have the number re-registered in their name, and then they were allowed to assign the number to me. It took about 6 months and about $40 in FAA fees, but I got it, and it is now on my plane.

My first "vanity" N-number!

And, thanks for all the "welcomes".... :D
