Aircraft: Mooney M20F
Hello all,

I flew a V35A for about 10 years as part of a 3 airplane flying club. I loved it! My favorite flight was with my wife and 4 small children from Spanish Fork, UT (KSPK) to the old West Yellowstone, MT airport, flying along the tops of the Grand Tetons at sunrise. My longest was a non-stop from Boeing Field (KBFI) in Seattle, WA to KSPK, which to this day is my only IFR approach to not much higher than minimums at night.

I took a decades long leave of flying to work and raise my children, but my son decided to become an ATP. So we did what all normal people would do in such a situation, and bought a Piper Comanche so he could train and I could fly again. Sadly, we lost that airplane. Another topic for another time is why you NEVER let your friends fly your airplane with only renter's insurance. About 2 years ago we purchased, with a couple of other friends, a Mooney M20F which we fly as often as we can afford. Our favorite trip so far was from Provo, UT (KPVU) to Carmi, IL (KCUL) for the eclipse this spring. On that one we even made a jaunt down to the Birmingham AL area (KEKY) to spend the night with my daughter's family.

Hopefully the Mooney is our Forever Airplane, but if not, another Bonanza will be in the running.

Best,
Merrill Smith

Welcome Merrill. From another non Beech flyer I can assure you that you will still learn heaps here. It’s a great resource populated by some highly qualified and very impressive people.

Beechtalk is both educational and entertaining.
