Hi Chuck! Thanks! I do have my IR and 1500+ hours. Insurance was stupid expensive, but it all is anymore. Heck, it wasn't much cheaper to insure my Cubcrafters FX-3. My goal is to try to get 150+ hours this year and see how it goes. Now if only the weather will get a little better... :-) Username Protected wrote: Welcome Joyce. Beautiful plane and a great choice. Look forward to watching your transition. Do you have your IR rating? If not, getting it will help with insurance going forward. Best, Chuck

Welcome Joyce. Glad to see someone converting FROM an SR 22, instead of the other way around. All jokes aside, what are your pros and cons of switching to the 36? Beautiful 36 BTW, but this thread is useless without more pictures

Thanks Matt! It was a little bit of an impulsive decision but I really wanted something less maintenance intensive than the Cirrus. I had an NA 22 that I sold in 2020 right before I got my 22T. I loved the speed and the looks of the Cirrus but always dealing with 'life-limited' parts was a drag - especially during the height of the 'virus'. I could haul pretty much what I wanted, but my husband always wanted to haul more and heavier stuff. I also found that I really didn't want to suck on O2 -or deal with ice, FIKI or not. The Garmin Perspective was much better than the Avidyne that I had in my NA, but the timing was just right to sell. I actually looked at Lancair but some other pilot friends kind of talked me out of it. Another good pilot friend started talking to me about the A36. I was originally going to look for an older plane that I could do all the mods I wanted to on. He's in the aviation business and started searching hi and low and found this one. It's a 1971 airframe that was completely renovated inside and out. It really had everything done that I wanted. And I didn't have to spend at least a year waiting for the plane to be done. After 30ish hours in the plane now, I really don't see any cons. I big pro of the Cirrus is the side stick. It really frees up a lot of cabin room. I'm going to get a single yoke for the Bo so that will help a bunch. My husband actually likes riding in the back seat where he has lots of room and it's easier to get in and out. The payload is a huge plus over the Cirrus and the speed is about the same as the 22T. And Kevin is a WONDERFUL BPPP instructor! I was really nervous and he really put me through the wringer, but I was really glad he did. He made me a MUCH better pilot. If you need any Bo training, he's really awesome!!!
